First Round

Participants have to submit a 1-page excerpt from their manuscript/synopsis on StoryMirror. Your submission will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Originality of the idea
  • Quality of the story/plot
  • Development of characters
  • Depth of the narrative

Ensure that the synopsis is error-free to avoid penalties. The top 15 entries will advance to the finals.

LitFair - Finale

If you make it to the finals, how would you like to showcase your idea to our esteemed jury, including Aashish Gupta, Anuradha Singh, Dickens Leonard, Lalitha Ravindran, Natasha Sharma and Premlata Poonia? Your presentation can take any form that aligns with the essence of your book idea—whether it's a musical performance, dance, slam poetry, slide-deck, storytelling, stand-up comedy, or any other creative expression. This will be followed by a discussion with the jury.

Jury:

  • Aashish Gupta is the best-selling author of psychological fiction, satire and micro-fiction, a heady mix for a TedX Speaker and a risk analyst at Gartner India. His books include Anecdotes of a White-Collared Slave and The Illusionists.
  • Anuradha Singh wears many hats. An author and poetess with several published books, she is also a teacher, an army wife and mother to two young lads. Her books include The Mysterious Widows of Mehboobpura, The Essence of Draupadi, Musings of a Wandering Mind and others.
  • Dickens Leonard is an esteemed professor at IIT Delhi. His educational background and research interests lie in literary studies, comparative literature, film and cultural studies, translation, and the history of anti-caste thought.
  • Lalitha Ravindran is the founder of First Forays Literary Agency. She has traversed the not-so-related fields of insurance, technology, and publishing with a fair degree of success. Lalitha is a tennis fanatic who also dabbles in crochet and writes her blog, Goose’s Gala, on www.firstforays.com.
  • Natasha Sharma is a prolific reader and writer of well-researched tales when she isn't busy with her day job and being a mother to her young daughter. Her debut novel, set just after the partition of India called Beneath Divided Skies, is expected to be released in January 2024. She is an active member of the Book Club, Book It Up and engages with the writers and readers' communities regularly.
  • Premlata Poonia was educated in India and the USA, where she had a successful corporate career for several years. She returned to India to set up Hamari Laado, an NGO to better the lives of girls in rural areas. She penned her memoir, Borders Bridges Belonging, a journey of hope across lands and generations, which she meticulously worked on and which has been well received.
