When the time the storm was at its peak

The candle did not flicker

it shone brightly

Even at the mercy of lightning and thunder

The fire gleamed

Its light was so luminous

That it lit up the darkest corners

The storm became angry

For the candle did not bow

It told the storm

It is finally time to go !!

The storm realized

That the power of its people

Was unbeatable

And it could not dictate anymore !!

The candle that shamed a storm

Is India -my nation

She proved to the world that it is unstoppable

Not in its might

But through its constitution

Just like a tiger in its own territory

Makes its own decision

Similarly, India’s choices

Are governed and decided by its people

Making it a Sovereign

The Asian river dolphin

Living harmoniously in pods

Thrive and celebrate each other

As they swim in the Ganges

Unity in Diversity they espouse

For, a Banyan tree

All its roots are equal

It may be deep beneath the ground

Or hanging on the branches aerial

Where we are not treated differently

Basis caste, gender, or physical capability

Making it secular

Pumpkin creeper leaf gives the entire plant

Equal amounts of food

The pumpkin might be heavier or smaller

But, for the plant, it is just as good

Socialist the plant is

Not differentiating or discriminating

Between the mighty or the poor

A peacock dancing in the rain

Looks spectacular and royal

Every bird’s dance

Is as resplendent as the others

Twirling and preening

Together in mirth

Equally, they add splendor

A lotus in the pond

Has all its petals gleam

It enjoys living next door

To a frog that squeaks

Secular the flower is

As it respects the frog

It might eat weeds

But the frog the worm

India's values

are described in the preamble

Of our Constitution

Socialist, Unity in Diversity, Equality

Secularism and Sovereignty

Are its guiding principles

This Independence Day

Let’s remember our tryst with destiny

For all that we take for granted

We have fought wars many

Jai hind!!!!!!
