A Day Like Yesterday
A Day Like Yesterday
It's like yesterday
When your little hands
Grabbed my little finger
To take a step forward.
It was a memorable day
When you first said "dad"
That day I felt complete
An eternal completeness.
Your presence made me realize
I'm not alone
I have a family
I have a daughter, who is my world.
You made me complete
You made me gentle-man
You made me father
"A daughter's Father".
Years changed
Time passed
You grew young
I became old.
Now you have started working
And wished to live alone
In your words "Independently"
I didn't complain, nor I wanted.
I wanted to see you grow
I wanted to see you proud
But the pain of separation
Arrived in between.
That night
I didn't sleep
The other day
I want office with baggy eyes.
Your absence
made me empty.
Yesterday I called you
To have dinner together.
But you declined
Saying "I'm at work"
But I was downstairs
With sparerib and shrimps.
I know you are now "Independent"
But take some time
And spend a weekend
With your old superhero.
I'm at a loss of energy
I need motivation
I need to re-charge
to move forward.
A cup of tea
A dinner accompanied with silly jokes
And nuisance talk, would be fine
I don't need more.
Can we spend a day like yesterday,
Here, I will hold your hand
And you will show the path
And together we will laugh while crossing the old paths.
