A Glimpse Into The Future

One morning I had woken up very late

And my gaze went to the calendar to check the date

 Surely my eyes were deceiving me,

The calendar showed June 2050!

I sat up, thoughtfully rubbing my chin

When to my surprise a robot walked in

He had brought my breakfast up for me

Oh, I felt like a queen, really!

I had to go to school by 8

And as I stepped out, I spotted a drone at the gate

Waiting to take me to school

Wow, all this was so cool!

Our first subject was History

To me, the whole point of studying it was a mystery

Anyways our teacher, a robot, told us to open our books

To the first chapter, and have a good look.

I was bored, I flipped to the chapter last

The title was People In The Past

And then there was a picture I recognized immediately

Because the girl in the picture was none other than me!

Suddenly, everything around me became a blur

And the voices reduced to a faint murmur

And then in front of me was my human teacher

Writing on the board – A Glimpse into the Future.

Apparently, we had to write an essay on it

And I had dozed off right in the middle of mine

But now that I knew exactly what to write

I just hoped I could finish on time.

I wrote as fast as I could

And submitted it the way I should

I was happy, because even after all I had seen

It felt good to be back in 2019!
