An Ode to My Mom
An Ode to My Mom
Dear dear mom,
You tried your best to fit me in your universe,
But I was born as an alien to your kind;
I failed in every training you gave…
Mom, did you know you were my only universe?!
You did every lab test possible on me,
To identify me as your family;
Though they were so painful I did bear them,
As the threat of you disowning me was unimaginable pain.
Mom, did you know still you were my only family?!?
You kept hammering chisel on me,
To sculpt me into your best work of art;
Unfortunately, I am not made of rock or wood,
I failed to make your dream come true…
Mom, did you know your joy was my only dream?!
You kept seeking perfect words from me,
To write your poem of purpose and meaning;
But, I never had enough words to fill your void,
And I am your meaningless disappointment…
Mom, did you know you were my only meaning?!
You lost hope in me,
So, without a warning, you disappeared;
Sorry mom! I tried and tried to be enough for you;
Now, I don't even feel enough for myself…
I am constantly searching for my meaning, dream, family and universe!
