Bath Time

    

Both of us were competing with each other,

As to whose patience is better,

He…underneath the cot lying down peacefully, 

Me……sitting up and waiting for him to get out of there!

After sometime I got fed up and took some stitching work,

One by one stitched up four Kurtis and shirts,

Then took some biscuits to cajole him, 

He wasn’t tempted one bit and lay there still!

I kept wondering how did he get a clue even, of his bath time, 

As I had tiptoed and kept his shampoo and towel inside,

Now, my patience was running out,

Just then his stray friends started to bark outside!

He couldn’t ignore them and ran out barking with them for company,

Then…..I think he forgot and came near the bathroom door,

To eat the biscuits/treats I had put there to cheat him, 

As he was eating, I slowly pushed him inside!

He pushed me trying to get out, as if he had to win this competition of ours, 

I became smarter and pushed him in and locked the door,

Now he couldn’t do anything and just settled down for his bath, 

With lukewarm water and a very good scrub!

Scrubbing him is tiring, first his back, then his four legs,

Later his neck, belly, tail and face,

By then, I was all wet with his vigorous shake to throw out the water,

Lastly I dried him with his towel and brought him out!

He sat on his bed sheet spread and rolled on it to dry himself,

I dried him further with the electric dryer,

He sat still like a good boy and got himself dried,

Now he looked so spic and span, his golden fur clean and shiny, 

All this trouble was worth it to see him smile widely showing off his new bow!
