Bye, Bye 2021
Bye, Bye 2021
Bye Bye 2020, the year that made us shocked
Sitting in our houses
Bolted and Locked
We thought the lockdown will be perennial
But, the Unlocking started in June
We all got sick of sitting at homes
And twiddling our thumbs very soon
Everything went so slowly
We all felt the pinch
Covid-19 took away
Everyday comforts-like The Grinch
At the beginning of this horrible tome
I moved to the city
That I call “My Home”
I met my friends and teachers virtually
But hugs and cuddles were non existent
When dark clouds loomed over everything
And troubled every queen and king
The doctors, nurses and first responders
Schools and Teachers
With their magic wands
And virtual classes
Hurtled a Thunderbolt
Fought with Covid-19
THE STILL DICTATING
It hasn’t gone away
To date
Its end of the year now
And we have hung our mistletoe and wreath
So, please 2021-The New Year
Remember to bring us some much needed cheer
As, we all wish for is a ray of hope
For humanity to again cope
Please stop Coronavirus’s rule
For us to go back to office and school
We look forward to go out and be free
Play with our friends in the park
Celebrating Christmas and Diwali
With our Family
The year taught us to treasure
And count our blessings in every measure
It taught us to be Responsible
And use things at home that was available
It made us Sustainable
And we learnt that
Our community helpers
Are more than capable
And usage of natural resources
Must be Equitable
As we come to an end
To the last chapter of this fable
We experienced sorrows, happiness and frowns
A roller-coaster of ups and downs
Let the world be a kinder place
For the entire human race
Sensitivity and compassion
Should be the new trends in fashion
Let’s accept that each of us
Differ in our own ways
Lets learn to listen
And appreciate what they say
Lets take a pause
And remember to Rejoice
All that we have held dear
As, we enter a new decade and a new year
