Dream Fairy
Dream Fairy
When I was young and much gullible,
Grandma told me you were real.
If I be obedient, good and bright,
You will visit me in the night.
Reward me with good dreams,
Sweet, happy ones and many treats.
Having grown up I wonder,
If it wasn’t all a blunder,
To believe in you Dream Fairy,
Perhaps you are just a grand story.
I haven’t seen you in many a year,
Do you even exist my dear?
Yes I do, said a voice from the deep,
I linger above while you sleep.
Looking for a gateway to enter your slumber,
You have dug a moat and the walls are higher.
How do I enter, you have built a fort,
Shut me out, tied yourself in many a knot.
Do yourself a favor, loosen the bind,
Take a break from the daily grind.
Don’t confine your spirit in unseen cords,
Let it fly, release it from the tightening bonds.
Only then you can sense me, I heard faintly,
I wonder if it wasn’t the Dream Fairy.
I am the Dream Fairy, the voice assured,
Revisit the past, remember what you heard.
Believe, have some faith, as you have had,
As a little girl on your grandma’s lap.
I have always been here and will be,
It’s you who got lost, as grown ups tend to be.
