END. THE. IS. THIS.

END. THE. IS. THIS.

Let me first introduce a new term [for me]

Cryon, synonyms: crawl, crawler, news ticker

Zipper, slide. Meaning, the text that accompanies

news reports; that crawls along the bottom of the screen

The equivalence to newspaper headlines

It speaks directly to our self-talk level of consciousness

Capable of informing us or reinforcing our baser behaviour

What’s all this? A strange title followed by a warning

Am I detecting a theme here? Doom, gloom & despair?

Don’t tell me to be patient! I want to know! I have a right to know!

Right! You have A RIGHT! How very interesting. Let’s discuss Eschatology

Eschatology? The end of the world, as we know it. You’ve been waiting, plotting

To undermine the basis of decent humanity. Conservative, you call yourself

Are you getting a hard-on just thinking of the rapture, being selected and transported

To heaven; of course your family, your cat and your dog are saved too

So, let’s get it on; turn up the volume. What shall we play? This is “The End”

Ladies and gentlemen, from 1967, The Doors! Take it, away, Jim

“This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end

Of everything that stands, the end

No safety or surprise, the end

I'll never look into your eyes again”

then, imagine this being the soundtrack to the closing credits

and scenes of Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (1979),

playing over scenes of deforestation and destruction. Your point?

These events happened. Carried out by soldiers, trapped in a hierarchy

Of command. Orders came from the top and percolated their way down

The destruction was the product of that chain of command. One could probably

Safely assume that if they believed they had a choice, they would have preferred

Not to give those orders. Do we have doubts or arguments? Keep it to yourself

“Can you picture what will be, So limitless and free

Desperately in need, of some, stranger's hand

In a, desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane, All the children are insane

Waiting for the summer rain, yeah”

Oh yeah, in the wilderness of pain

I pause here to clarify, that I do not support or agree with what happened

In Vietnam. I bring it up as an example; and to merge the idea of two

Separate strands of reference to “the end”. This brings me back to the

threat of modern conservatism: they, the righteous, the enlightened

How humanity should act; and they act to put into law restrictions

Freedom of choice, Are they baiting, challenging, daring the opposition [us]

To take them on in full battle? Sound dramatic? Do they have nukes?

Don’t make me puke! They have their armoury of lies, half-truths and outright

Nonsense!. Can you imagine, a quiet moment on a beach, the moonlight

The silence; just the occasional murmuring of the tide as it advances and retreats

Kind of soothing, kind of sweet. This is how we two sides meet, greet and seat

The tide of public opinion is constantly in motion, constantly in change

You’ve had your turn. Damaged and destroyed. Ours is coming

The final word to Mr Morrison?

“This is the end, My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free

But you'll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies

The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end”

The title? You’ve cracked it. A reversal of the words

THIS IS THE END
