Firaaq: Separation
Firaaq: Separation
Clay pots with succulents planted in them are the best to keep,
Be it by your bedside or in your living room.
For they are mellow,
For they accept changes,
For they have an affinity for dryness.
Flowers are overrated.
It may not feel very soft on skin but jute is the best fabric.
For within its fibres run important lessons
Of strength, independence and endurance.
Silk is deceiving.
Doodles can reflect state of mind in the best way possible.
For woven in them is reality,
For painted in them is monochrome,
For outlined in them is possibilities,
For their nature is to engage the eyes.
Embroideries are gorgeous but tiring.
Rubies are best to adorn yourself with.
For in them burns passion,
For in them glows desire,
For in them there is a sign of rebel.
Diamonds are binding. They are meant for promises.
Look how adamant they are -
The flowers I held in my hands,
The sash that encircled my waist,
The embroidery on my veil,
The diamond on my finger.
Look how they refuse to vacate my memories.
Look how they were never built to last.
Look how they were so absorbed in union
That they had no room for distance.
Look how mean they are,
Look how sadistic they are
That they just want to stay adhered to my chest
And thrive on my flesh till I am reduced to just bones.
Look how humiliating they are
That they appear out of nowhere in my sight,
In the gardens, the showrooms,
On random fingers and in arbitrary conversation.
Look how evil they are
That they plot nightmares against me all day
And duly serve them to me in the night.
Look how the world gets fooled by their beauty
Every time two people say - I do.
