Girl Child
Girl Child
Why do you feel despondent,
When a girl child is born because then
You say she will be dependent,
Because she is born a woman,
When woman are born its a bane,
One day they have to leave you and go,
Bringing them up is a pain
As everyone will one day know.
These arguments don't hold water,
They are without any fact or base,
But on the other hand birth of a daughter,
Should herald the beginning of happy days.
Our daughters also need their space,
Like our sons, they too need equal care,
They should be made to run a fair race,
And not a one-sided unequal affair.
See their dedication as they grow,
Walking side by side with their brother,
You will easily and surely know
Who is better placed among one another.
Don't make the girl child feel alone,
She is a part of you in every way
Don't turn your heart into a stone,
But accept her she is here to stay.
It so happens often its an unwritten rule,
The difference in upbringing shows in a way,
A son and daughter comes from school,
The daughter is sent into the kitchen, the son goes out to play
Change the rules it's up to you,
There is nothing to be ashamed of or to hide
Face what is fact and what is true,
Be proud of your girl child.
