Hatred
Hatred
In the darkness of the soul, it breeds,
Hatred festers and it feeds,
On the tender hearts of men,
It spreads its poison yet again.
It clouds the mind and clouds the heart,
Tearing all that once was apart,
It whispers lies and stokes the flame,
Leaving scars that never tame.
It brews in shadows and in fears,
Fueling anger with its bitter tears,
It blinds the eyes and chokes the throat,
Leaving love to drown in its moat.
But in the face of this cruel tide,
There is a force that will not hide,
For love will rise and stand its ground,
With kindness, and mercy in its sound.
For love is strong and love is true,
It knows the pain that hatred brews,
It seeks to heal and to restore,
To bind the wounds and to ignore them.
So let us rise above the hate,
And let our love illuminate,
The darkest corners of the soul,
And make compassion our only goal.
