I wiped my tears,

Put balm on my pains,

Ointment on my wounds 

Lotion on my scars

And plastered hurting

parts of my heart.


I watched movies

That made me smile

Heard songs that

soothed my soul

Read books 

That calmed my nerves.


Thus, piece by piece

I reconstructed myself.

I gave myself a second chance

Because I knew 

If I didn't give myself a second chance

Then no one else would.
