Love Lies Bleeding
Love Lies Bleeding
Acacia rose cannot piece my skin,
Even arbutus cannot recite my love's hymn.
You came like a mayflower,
Stayed like star of Bethlehem,
And left like asphodel.
Columbine is weeding the cananga tree,
Morning glory is blooming in obscurity.
Mallows are replaced by marigolds in spring.
Why I couldn't grow daffodils and bristlecone pines?
Why you couldn't grow delphinium that you borrowed?
Even our tears cannot rejuvenate the dying eglantines.
Cherry blossoms and falls in the pond,
From where it will never return.
