Navratri and Navratna

Nine nights for goddess Durga,

Full of dance and songs,

People worship her holy,

With flowers and prayers long.

May the Goddess bless us,

With the precious gift of values to mankind,

People praise and pray holy

Full of beauty divine!

Shailputri,

Trident in one hand and Lotus in another,

Symbolising dual female capabilities,

The Himalaya's daughter,

Blessing to others health and prosper.

Brahmacharini,

Strides barefeet as respect to Mother Earth,

Togetherness of family she preaches,

And preaches, peace a path to victory.

Chandraghanta,

Demolishes evil with and in,

Ferocious to every wicked's sin,

Frees devotees of sorrow and pain, givingly.

Kushmanda,

Preaches the importance of responsibility,

Creator of the universe,

Devises the intellect to accountable decision making ability,

To protect the succeeding authority of her universe.

Skandamata,

Symbolises the value of alertness,

Kartikeya's carrier, protectively conceals in the lotus her child.

Katyayani,

Protection of rights, in the battlefield of swords she derives,

The meaning of violence,

But for purposes of good.

Kaalratri,

Signifies to embrace beyond colour and shade,

Eye the fourth, of alarm and alertness to evil and devil,

Contains the the universe of the true and of the contaminated.

Mahagauri,

The one with the heart of pity and giving,

Like mother,

Mastering this unconditional art

.

Siddhatri,

Who perfects the perfection in imperfection,

Showers equality between education and defence, 

Peace and violence, and how they contradict by situation.

All these goddesses symbolize the devotional values,

The immense values of a woman,

Of a mother.

So this Navratri, thank the goddess who gave birth to you and nurtured you through everything,

Because a goddess, it's that woman, that mother.
