Abstract

Oh my dear focus!

Oh my dear focus!

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Are you anywhere near?

Or far?

It's been such a long time,

Since I let go,

Of your gentle hands.

I miss you,

Knowing that,

I might never see you again.

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

I remember those times,

Be it studying,

Be it reading,

Be it learning,

We used to sit together,

Our palms in each others',

Our fingers entwined,

In rapt attention.

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Distractions existed,

Even back then,

But not once did we allow them,

To overpower me, nothing could sway us.

No small thanks due to you

Correction, entirely due to you

Me, emerging smarter, wiser.

You, in turn,

Asking for nothing in return.

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

My mind, once your servant,

Has become my master,

Always fidgety,

Easily bored,

So restless,

Unable to concentrate,

So helpless,

A slave of the distractions all around.

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

Your bereavement cost me dearly,

A huge price I have paid,

Like true love,

I've realised your value,

Only after I've lost you.

Now as I struggle to write in free verse,

Your memories only make me feel worse.

Is all forgiven? Will you come back ?

Oh my dear focus!

Whither hast thou gone?

"Focus. Otherwise, you will find life becomes a blur."
