Day 6- Secrets

The poem is about the secret ingredient in a loving relationship of two people- nothing genetic but their experience. It’s about the secrets they hold and never told. It’s about when they fell in love and the deep held secrets that exists in every relationship. What made this relationship work? What’s their secret? Well, find out.

Our secret ingredient to love- our quirky unorthodox selves. We never wanted to imitate the Traditional route to find love, we never compared and never settled- we fought.

We fit like a puzzle, moulding;

And the full package of hand-holding;

You judge in an instant,

Love as if there is no dent;

If only you’d leave her hand

Holding you back,

Like a child at a playground filled with sand.

You weep for what’s lost

You weep for what could’ve been

You weep for the opportunity cost

You weep for what you’ve seen.

I say, open your eyes, look up, at what’s to come

People who like you, cause they, too dumb

to get a hint and move on like a grown-up

when invigilator screams time’s up.

They hope for a fairy tale

They hope for the boy to change a scale

They hope for the moon to dance

They hope for you to give them a chance.

I asked you to get over her,

You said it was all a blur;

You asked me my real pick, in men or in chick

How could I have ever worded, me without you, being homesick.

You said you felt differently about me

In that instant I knew I’d chase after you

With head gone wrong,

Day-night long;

I knew that instant that I’d take you on.

It’s always been about me, to repair the damaged

And it’s always been you to walk with what’s bandaged.

That’s how I knew that we’d work so well,

In anniversaries we celebrate,

You remind me of decisions and memories

That turned out so swell.
