Parade, Our Pride

As the dawn of January 26th bloomed, 

I was up along with the sun

Eager to watch the prowess of a nation, 

That's the largest democracy ever. 

When the clock chimed nine, 

And my television turned on, 

The streets of Rajpath, 

Came alive in front of my eyes. 

The lovely voices of Rini and Sumeet, 

Echoed in my ears, 

Their eloquence… aaah… 

That still lingers around. 

The majestic armed forces, 

Put their armoury to display. 

I used to wonder aloud,

Did other nations get scared? 

The valour of the soldiers so valiant, 

Sent goosebumps in plenty. 

Aptly they were rewarded, 

For the selfless service they rendered. 

The silent tears shed by the family, 

Was not hidden from the viewers. 

Their loss, let us sleep in peace. 

Hence, salutes they do deserve. 

Then came the students, 

Appreciated for their bravery,

In their tender ages, 

Ain't it a moment to feel proud? 

The vast culture and heritage, 

Created a visual treat for us. 

The tableaus spoke in volumes, 

Of the historic events. 

Watching the parade inculcated, 

The seeds of patriotism in me. 

My hands raise to salute, 

The wonderful nation that I live in.
