Pushed Aside
Pushed Aside
Over the years I have always wondered what it would be like to be in your shoes,
I am sure you didn’t imagine having a sister in a wheelchair,
I bet there were some times you didn’t always know why you got pushed aside,
I bet you wanted a sister that could chase you down and throw water balloons at you,
I am sure you don’t like watching me when mom and dad go out,
I appreciate you helping me to open my presents on Christmas,
I’m sorry I didn’t support you going into the military at first
I was just upset about you not finishing your last year of high school and
I wasn’t out of school even a year yet,
I know that you had your reasons to keep our country safe,
But now I thank you for your service,
I love you.
