Sands of Time
Sands of Time
I must have been eighteen when I left home,
After a heated debate about wanting to stay alone.
I must have checked all the right boxes while being in college,
And found a soul mate in you, I do acknowledge.
I must have rebelled and ran away from you,
Though our love had deepened and had begun to brew;
I must have been scared about
putting down my roots,
But I must have known all roads lead back to you!
I must have run away from the road unseen as they say!
Unlike you, my feet were made of clay!
I must have surprised you no end as from the nest I flew,
But then I must have known all roads lead back to you!
I must have run away from our village,
Maybe because I was still not ready for marriage!
But then I must have somehow known,
That without you, I will cease to exist and be all alone!!
I must have wanted to live a life less ordinary,
The exotic and the exciting were always on my itinerary!
But I must have known that whatever path I pursued,
Will join the roads that lead back to you!
I must have known that thirty years later,
We will be together on the stage of the world’s amphitheater
I must have known that however far I flew,
You were the wind beneath my wings and all roads lead back to you!
