Smile That Took Away My Heart
Smile That Took Away My Heart
That one smile which stole my heart….
She knew to live, she knew this art.
Outside that small, broken, tented hut,
There were puddles and stench, she knew but….
It's not worth worrying, it doesn’t need care
Her feet were bare,
Her clothes were torn,
Her face was flushed with laughter,
Her hair played around her cheeks
But who had the time to look after…
She was probably used to spend
Days and nights with an empty stomach.
But her eyes were full of joy
And so seemed her soul was without any ache.
Her empty hands were full,
Her lips didn’t seem to be dull.
Her spirits were high and I could read
The hope and optimism in her heart’s seed.
Her bright eyes said aloud,
You can’t be thrashed or dumped down in the crowd
Unless you accept defeat.
No one dare put you in the back seat.
Her unsaid words told me clear and straight
Misery can take away the roof on her head
But no one can take away the earth below her feet.
