The Fear of Being Ourselves
The Fear of Being Ourselves
The biggest fear we hold is to live,
To risk ourselves, to take and give,
And show the world what we truly are,
To be ourselves, to shine like a star.
We seek to please and meet demands,
To satisfy, to fit, to understand,
But in this journey, we lose our way,
And forget who we truly are each day.
The perfection we seek, an image we form,
To meet the standards, to keep ourselves warm,
But we fail to see, it's a trap we create,
A false facade, a mask of deceit.
We judge ourselves, we reject our flaws,
Our self-worth dwindles, our confidence crawls,
And we pretend to be someone else,
Our true selves are hidden, and our heartache swells.
We are afraid, that we will be seen,
For who we truly are, not who we seem,
But in this fear, we lose our souls,
And our true potential, we fail to unfold.
Let us break free, from this domestication,
To embrace ourselves, without hesitation,
For in our flaws, lies our true beauty,
And it's time to embrace it, in our entirety.
