The Tiger And The Turtle
The Tiger And The Turtle
Look, here comes the king
With his mighty stripes.
Brave, powerful, meticulous;
How an enemy he wipes!
As he moves towards his opponent,
Ah! A turtle is clever.
Gazing into each other’s eyes,
None of them wants to have.
An inch moves the tiger,
Towards the left he moves;
An inch moves the turtle,
Heavily the tiger hooves.
One is huge, the other – small,
Both in a meadow.
Increased heartbeat, increased desire,
Trying even to rule the other’s shadow.
Like a flash of lightening
The tiger hits the turtle with his claw.
With the blink of an eye, likewise,
The turtle moves inside his shell following the jungle law.
Stunned, astonished, surprised
Is the king as his enemy he grabs.
Trying to figure out the fettle,
With his claw, the turtle he stabs.
And then all exhausted
With all his efforts in vain,
The tiger leaves the spot,
His face holding his eyes in pain.
The turtle peeps out of the shell,
His face showing a sign of relief.
Small as it is, his weakness,
Had won over the tiger, his belief.
And so he says to the king,
‘You came to kill me, but I just duck.
It was fun, it was a fright.
Until we meet next, best of luck.’
