A BENEVOLENT GIRL

" Lily Lily! What are you doing now alone inside the room? Come and take your dinner " Called Mini, the mother of Lily who is a 3rd year Arts student, with a loving tone.

The reply came out of the closed room, " Yea Mom I am reading and completing the home task. Please spare me only five minutes Mom".

" OK," it's 9 pm. Your dad hasn't returned yet. I have kept aside your and Dad's dinner packages separately. I feel tired. Let me take a rest in my room.

"All right my sweet Mom. Thank you." Retorted Lily.

After five minutes she came out of her reading room and walked up to the dining hall to enjoy her dinner. After consuming the food she entered into her room. After drinking a glass of milk pouring down from the flask kept by her Mom in the cupboard she went to bed. Then she had a sound sleep that flew her away to a dreamland full of wonders just like Alice.

It was 11 pm. Mr. Saroj, the father of Lily, returned home and stood in wait in front of the gate after switching on the calling bell fitted with a CCTV camera. Then Ms. Mini broke off her short nap and opened the door.

Mini asked, "Why are you so late? May I know dear? "

" Yes, sure. The reason is that our Board of Directors' meeting was continuing. As I am a Ceramic Engineer I was bound to attend the meeting. " Mini replied, " OK Dear. Please refresh and have your dinner". Though she is a housewife she has completed PG in Psychology. Being a highly educated wife hailing from a reputed family she has never deviated from modest behavior towards her husband during 20 years of her married life. Likewise, Saroj also reciprocates. The cordial conjugal relation makes them ever happy. They also always shower their sweet blessings and hearty affection on Lily, their single daughter, without fail. Too much affection from her parents made Lily somewhat haughty and stubborn in positive conception.

Let us come to the topic. As a Sanatani housewife Mini has an extraordinary interest to dine with Saroj Babu regularly at night only. That day also she waited for Saroj Babu's arrival to take dinner together. They did the same and entered their bedroom. However such type of conjugal good manners was reciprocated between them revealing a very concrete conjugal bond.

Moreover, Saroj Babu was also a single heir of his late parents who have kept immense landed properties for him to enjoy. Therefore, basically, the couples were well-to-do. They are also always cheerful nevertheless doctor had advised Mini a decade ago that she could never conceive again due to a major gynecological problem.

Furthermore both husband and wife were prone to give their daughter proper dignity in society at any cost. Because Lily is a first-class student and has had a brilliant student career since her LP level. Although Lily is a talented girl, her parents were unwilling to educate her through English medium. In spite of several requests from the friends and relatives of Saroj Babu, he did as per his self-motivation to educate Lily in indigenous educational institutions where the medium was her own mother language .He also had admitted Lily to the Martial Arts training center notwithstanding she had joined NCC in her High School career. After all, Saroj Babu and Mini Devi wanted their daughter to be an all-rounder and to serve the Indian Airforce as a fighter pilot after completion of her academic career.

One day due to heavy domestic work Ms. Mini Devi fell ill. Taking leave from her College for a week she attended her mother and finished all the routine works of the house besides feeding her Mom medicines and diets as prescribed by the Doctor with punctuality. Some of their neighbours suggested Mini to engage a maidservant in her house. But Ms.Mini straightforwardly did not accept their suggestions due to her idealistic standpoint.

In the world, God has created innumerable humans with divergent characteristics that do not match one another. Some of them are exceptional like Mini Devi.She also taught her daughter how to handle any adverse situation with good morals. So Lily was extremely happy to be a daughter of such a mother, Ms. Mini. After taking medicines Ms. Mini fully recovered from viral fever after a week.

One day Lily had been to her friend's village during summer vacation. She accompanied her friend to bathe in the village pond whose water was still very deep. But her friend didn't know swimming whereas Ms. Lily was a good swimmer. Unfortunately, her friend was just going to drown while taking a bath. She immediately dragged her back to the bank of the pond and saved her friend's precious life. God is such a source of invisible power that no one can take one's life without His consent. The Mini has displayed herself as a noble representative of Almighty God before her friend. In spite of being a town girl, she afforded for saving one's worthwhile human life. Her commendable work had pleased Mani's parents and she was glorified by their blessings. The onlookers also decorated Lilly with high praises. After staying in Mani's home for a week which was full of rural enjoyments she came back to her parents with a jolly mood.

Once in a county carnival of Khudurkuni, Lily with her parents, visited the fair. Some hooligans also visited the carnival. A teenager smart girl was also walking alone through the streets to enjoy the fair. All of a sudden, one of the goons began molesting the poor lonely girl who was fully insecure and helpless. Though all the crowds were observing the pitiable scene, nobody dared to come forward to capture the street goons.

Ms. Lily viewed it seriously and apathy was created in her human heart. So without making a further delay, she walked closer to the poor girl. Instantly she charged at that ruffian with karate and made that guy flat on the ground. Besides that, she informed the nearby Police Station by her mobile phone. In the meantime, Lily encouraged the victim and made her stand beside her parents among the crowds. She offered an Ice cream to the victim who was trembling with fear. After about half an hour the Police Inspector arrived at the spot. The Homeguard constables also helped the local police. While the molester regained his consciousness, the Inspector handcuffed and carried him to the PS by the jeep. The Inspector patted Lily's shoulder and told her parents, " Actually I salute you. You have brought up your daughter in a humanitarian way which should be an example for each parents in India. Thank you so much. OK. " This incident moved  the  hearts of the surrounded crowds. Saroj and Mini Devi felt like efficient parents and became heartily cheerful at their daughter's benevolent deed. Then Lily and her parents returned home with the victim girl by their personal Maruti van. But the kindhearted Saroj Babu and Mini Devi offered a glass of boiled milk to the girl and Mr. Saroj Babu dropped Sabi, the victimised girl at her home in his own car that night.

The advent of the ultra-modernity and the introduction of Networks in the Indian atmosphere made a drastic change in the cultural and traditional lives of Indian people. The patriarchic family system somewhat changed into a matriarchic system. During the twenty-first century though the latter has not been fully accepted by the Indian society, still in the present scenario some progressive women want liberation from male domination and to keep pace with the men in every walk of life. As a result of this conflicts arises in society. They sometimes prefer an unconventional living viz. to earn more money in a perverted way so as to maintain a free lifestyle according to Western patterns. If they find any obstacles on their way, they react and disobeys their elders' advices and also being perverted they sometimes resort to criminalism. However, one such incident had come across the course of life of Ms. Lily which was encountered by her courageously and drastically. One evening she was returning home from college on her bike when she heard a groaning sound of a man beside the road. It was a half-moony night of winter. She stopped the bike and walked onto the spot. The spot was covered with dense thickets. No sooner she switched on her mobile torch than she saw a young masked woman fixing her pistol on a young man's forehead and trying to extort money from him by force. Lily instantly applied martial arts on that masked woman and captured her gun. The young man was released from the hold of an anti-social masked woman. But she instructed the man to wait after calling the police Station. Police Inspector arrived on the spot and nabbed the hooligan-masked woman. Her mask was stripped off by the police and she was carried to Police Station for interrogation . Lily and the victimized young man followed the police jeep on their bikes and reached the PS. After taking the signature of both as witnesses police Inspector allowed Lily and the young man to go. This benevolent action of Lily was highlighted throughout the town through the media. All the people appreciated Lily for her good deed as an example of social welfare.

In due course of time, Lily passed graduation with distinction and got admitted in Pilot Training Academy in due course of time by virtue of her father's sincere efforts. Then she joined Indian Airlines. The long-cherished hope of her parents came true eventually. Whenever they looked at their loving daughter with a special uniform and hat, tokened as per the discipline of Indian Airlines their parental hearts' joy knew no bounds. Besides God often fulfils the sincere desire of one's heart unexpectedly beyond one's imagination  which was proved in Lily's life. Suddenly she appeared the due test and interview notified by the Indian Air Force so as to qualify herself as a fighter plane pilot. Sincere efforts of any one never become fruitless. By virtue of her talent Ms. Lily joined the defence service in the post of a Fighter Pilot and maintained a bright career by making her motherland a glorious one and the dignity of Indian women's race as well.
