A Lesson Learned In Flood

The monsoon of 2018 was different than others for us because it was the first time we experienced flood in our area due to excessive rains and broken bank of nearby river. Our house became an island and stayed so for a week. Now that I look back at that time, what pulls the strings of my heart isn't the problems we faced but what we witnessed. When we went upstairs to investigate the condition, we were shocked to find a squirrel trying to enter my study room. She might have climbed up the terrace from the tree adjacent to the railing. We stayed at our place calmly, waiting for her to go but she rushed towards us which made us scream and to our surprise, it scared the squirrel and she too screamed. She crouched in a corner. We could see her panting. 

At that moment, we realised that no matter our differences, living emotions are same. We just need to understand them. The squirrel stayed with us until the water level lowered.
