Mekhala was a big girl and this year she was promoted to Std V. She was a brilliant student studying in Sophia convent, Mount Abu.

For the inter-competition many school as well as Sophia girls was invited to the boys school, St. Mary.

Mekhala tied up her hair to two plaits and reached school at 7.30. The school bus would leave for St. Mary school at 8 am sharp. All the senior classes got up and the class teachers as well as a few more boarded the bus.

As it was a hilly area at every corner the bus driver gave a horn and the girls inside enjoyed the ride.

After half an hour the bus reached St. Mary school and all the teachers took the trouble to see the girls got down safely

There were many sports taken place. High jumps, relay race, running, hockey and a few more. All school children who were chosen participated. Sophia girls took part in badminton and long race.

At 5 pm after the March past there was the prize distribution. Mekhala stood second in the long race and was awarded the cup and there were many more prizes. Sophia stood proud as the girls won the badminton game.

After the school principals speech they were all invited for the tea. It was here Mekhala and her friends came to know that there was a hush hush going on.

In low tone a few teachers were discussing that a certain boy of the senior class had broken the rules repeatedly and was rusticated.

A spoilt boy of a so called wealthy man had broken the school rules. Brother Superior had warned the boy twice but he paid no heed and continued doing whatever he wanted. Finally his parents were called and the boy's father came with a team of cars and told the principal, 'well my son is in the senior class and now if he cannot sit for the finals he would be losing this year' Brother told him that he was given a few chances but he paid no heed.

Well said the so called wealthy man, 'do you know who I am'. Brother did not like it and said , ' You can be anyone but a rule is rule and I would rather close my school and go back to my country than to accept your son to the school'

So these were the Irish brothers. Disciplined.

They never tolerated nonsense.

Conclusion: Brother Superior did the right thing. And took the correct decision.
