I was a working as a corporate employee. I used to work in Gurgaon and live in Faridabad in a rented apartment. Delhi Metro, which is known as lifeline of Delhi-NCR was the mode of communication for me from home to office. My home was at a distance of half an hour from the metro station, so I had to manage accordingly. I was working in a 24x7 environment with no regular timings and no regular offs in a weak, my job was like that. Every day as I reached the taxi stand after deboarding metro train in the night, I immediately used to rush toward local taxi stand which was a very small taxi stand from where I could get the taxi to my home.

One night it happened that due to excessive workload, I was late in leaving my office. I left my office at arounds 10 PM. Since Faridabad was at a considerable distance from Gurgaon, I reached Faridabad at 11:30 PM. As I went down the staircase of the metro station and reached the taxi stand, I saw that 4 Taxi Drivers smoking cigarette at the corner and no other taxi driver was there. That place is often full of many taxis but that night, something definitely happened, which I did not know. Why there were only 4 taxi drivers at that place. I went near those taxi drivers. They looked very strange. As I was a daily commuter, most of the taxi drivers' faces were familiar to me and they always behaved in a friendly manner. But those 4 taxi drivers looked different, with a dangerous expression on their faces. I asked them, "Bhaiya, will you go to Faridabad". All of those 4 drivers were badly drunk. One of them shouted on me, "Don't you see it is night time. It is time for our rest. Just get out of here." I was shocked with such a rude and unexpected behavior of a taxi driver. Seeing that they were drunk, I said, "Ok, no problem. I will leave. Thank You", and I started moving in a different direction.

To my surprise, one of those taxi drivers came near me and held my collar," You useless fellow. Firstly, you disturbed our sleep and now you are leaving. We will not let you leave. We will take revenge." He pushed me so forcefully that I feel on the ground. After that all those 4 taxi drivers surrounded me. One of them said," Just look at this guy. He disturbed our sleep, irritated us and now he wants us to let him go and not give him punishments for his mistakes.Ha,Ha,Ha!". They all started laughing. One of those taxi drivers kicked forcefully in my stomach. I cried out of pain. Then another taxi driver kicked me with full force on my back. I was gasping for air in one blow. I realized these people are not taxi drivers. Taxi drivers are always helpful. And taxi drivers are getting customer at night, definitely they drop him, wherever the customer wants, and they take charge according to their own choice at night, especially if some customer is in grave need. And customers also happily pay them because it's great help at night time.

But these people were not taxi-drivers. I thought I don't react now; they will keep beating me. I gathered some courage, stood up and kicked forcefully on the chest of one of those guys. With one blow of my kick, he fell down and became unconscious. Seen this other 3 people came near me and two of them forcefully grabbed both my arms. The third one ran towards me with a rod in his head. I jumped and delivered a flying kick on his nose. Blood started coming out of his nose and he fell down unconscious. Looking at this both the goons left my arms and rushed towards him. Blood was flowing non-stop from his nose. Seeing this, both the men rushed towards me. But I was ready. With full force I punched one of them on his face and kicked on the chest of another one. Both the men fell down, crying out of pain. Now all 4 of them were lying in front of me, crying out of pain. I looked here and there. Nobody was around. I picked up an iron rod lying nearby and started thrashing all 4 of them with full force. I thrashed them continuously for 10 minutes. They were crying, "We are sorry. Please leave us". But I did not stop. I was careful that I don't have to hit them on their head of face. I thrashed them till they were unconscious.

Even when they were totally insane, I did not stop kicking them. I was so angry. But soon I controlled myself and stopped. All 4 of them were lying like dead people. I went to a nearby tap, washed my face and moved towards main road. After walking few steps ahead, a car came near me and offered lift. I looked inside the car. There were 2 old people in that car. One man & one woman. They said, "Boy, what happened to you? You are bleeding." I told them the whole story. They said, "Don't worry dear we will drop you at you home. Who is there in family". I said, "Sir I live alone." Hearing this they took me to their home. They gave me first aid and medicine. Later they served me a delicious dinner. After dinner they said, "Tonight, you please stay here. Tomorrow, we will drop you at your place."

I stayed over there for a night and in the morning the gentleman dropped me to my residence. I was highly thankful to that person. I offered him tea and we had a chat for 30 minutes. After that he left for his home. As he was about to sit in his car, he turned back and said," Son, please be careful next time. And if due to emergency, you have to leave office late in the night, its better you spend night at your office. Being safe is our own responsibility."

I thanked them wholeheartedly. Standing there I was thinking that there are different types of people in this world. Some of them are blot on society and some of them are so genuine that we can definitely put them in category of Gods.

Reaching home, I remembered the incidence that happened with me. I thought in life, sometimes we have to act like a hero, dealing with all the obstacles ourselves, especially in situations where nobody is there to help. Whether it is dealing with personal problems or dealing with bad guys of society. We muse project ourselves as Heros.
