Beautiful Her

Beautiful Her

Nithya stared into her eyes standing in front of a large, fancy mirror. She kept gazing, examining each part of her face. How much she had invested in making this face pretty! Right from her teenage years, whenever people passed a remark about the large forehead she had, she would pity her face. Some said, she looked like she had lost hair and many would even say that a wig would do the trick. In order to make up for the not-so-beautiful forehead, Nithya bought the best cosmetics to paint all over her face. She begged for approvals from people hoping people noticed her other features and not the forehead.

On that day, on her best friend’s wedding day, she stood in front of the mirror waiting to get dressed up. Nithya definitely wanted to look her best. All the best things – the Lehanga, the accessories, make-up kit were ready on the dressing table. Somehow, something inside of her told her to stop. I mean, Nithya just sat down pondering.

In all the years of growing up into a young woman, she had given her time, attention, love, effort to merely mask her forehead and let her pretty face do the talk.

What if she knew exactly how to make her own personality more beautiful?

A radiant smile, a heart full of confidence, a head full of positive emotions would have naturally enhanced her face. As long as she believed and pursued her passion, her work alone would have done the talking. Whether people called her a large-forehead girl or suggested medicines to get it done better, nothing would matter because her focus would have been on the other wonderful things.

Nithya regretted having waited so long.

She stood up and put on the make-up. This time, with a different mindset. Make-up wouldn’t define her anymore. How she spoke, how she treated people, how happy she was inside-out alone mattered.

Nithya felt like the most beautiful girl now.

She happily went to the wedding.
