Sam was a ten-year-old boy and had lost his father when he was a toddler. His mother worked as a cook for a living. Sam's summer vacations had begun and he was nagging his mother for a bicycle as all his friends rode to the playground. His mother had one excuse, "We don't have enough money now, promise to get you one soon".

One day his mother asked him to accompany her to a client's house where she had got a huge contract. They reached the venue, mother had everything in place as per her list. The only thing she had to do was cook, she requested Sam to help her in chopping the vegetables for salads and curry. While she was busy preparing for the main course and desserts. Sam had seen the huge mansion several times but had entered here for the first time perhaps had come to see it's grandeur from in side. He was baffled to see the manicured lawns, spacious living room with artifacts from around the world, enormous kitchen several times of their small house. Sam felt pity for himself as their home the only asset left by his late father and from there mother had started her tiffin center which apparently became successful and she got orders to cook during festivals and events. In spite of all this, his mother was unable to afford a bicycle. All these mental jogs made Sam angry and he got off his perch leaving the kitchen with teary eyes.

Sam's mother felt guilty as she worked hard repaying the loan installments of their home and others which had accumulated after her husband's treatment and subsequent death, she was incapable of even buying a cycle for her only son.

Meanwhile, Sam had toured the mansion observing the beauty, everything was well placed in an aesthetic way. Suddenly Sam heard the sobbing of a boy from one of the rooms, he knocked on the doors and a few moments later heard the boy's voice to get in. Sam was bewildered to see the lavish room with beautiful interiors, a gigantic bed, lovely furnishings and the coolness of the air-conditioning. The boy was sitting on a chair with his head on the writing-table, beside him was a vast glass cabinet filled with books. The boy lifted his head and inquired, "Who are you?" Sam replied, "I'm Sam my mother is the cook for today's event, I just lost my way in this palatial house". The boy remarked, "well it's okay, go straight the aisle and take the first left you will see the living room". Sam interrupted, "You are very lucky to have everything one possibly could dream of, but I have never seen you around or in the school which is the only one in this town". The boy gave a week smile and said, "You are right I don't stay here this is my grandparent's place I stay in a boarding school". Sam intervened, " Boarding schools provide the best education, they are expensive only afforded by rich". The boy uttered painfully, " What's the use of such richness?" Sam replied, " you are getting the best education will find a decent job abroad and perhaps travel the world you are a lucky guy, here I'm begging my mother to get me a cycle and she can't afford one".

The boy gave a pensive smile tears rolled down his cheeks. Sam was taken aback, "what happened, why are you crying?" The boy wiped his tears and said, "of course I'm getting the best of education, I may get a decent job abroad or probably have my own business in different countries like my grandfather and father". Sam remarked, "Oh Wao!" The boy ignored him and continued, "Do you know why your mother is here? well, today is my parent's death anniversary, relatives and friends are coming for a prayer meeting so the cooking. Moreover, my parents had traveled the world my grandparents have money but they could not save my parents who died in an accident". Now Sam's tear glands opened up, he remembered loosing his father and how his mother worked day and night took him everywhere she went just to spend time with him, stole time to help him in homework, to take care of him in illness, told him bedtime stories. Sam said to the boy, " I'm really sorry for your loss and pray you to get happiness in your life". And left the room to hug his mother.
