Capital concern ( An article on critical global pandemic)

Violence against women is rooted in a global culture of discrimination that denies them equal rights and the appropriation of their bodies for individual gratification or political ends. It is a global pandemic. Though capital punishment is the highest degree of punishment, it is inhuman, and several countries have adamantly opposed it. Miscarriage of justices is, in fact, one of the biggest concerns about the death penalty.

Studies conducted by top international organizations in the field of humanitarian work have shown that often, the process of deciding who should be on death now can be arbitrary and biased. Rape is one of them. It has been observed that the judicial system observes leniency and avoids the death penalty except in cases of extremely gross and intolerable offenses. Rape is one of them.

Punishment is a just response to a criminal act. In a civilized society, an eye for an eye ought not to be the criterion, disguised with the ‘rarest of rare’ tag. Rapists should be awarded capital punishment and this act should be treated as rarest of the rare case. International organizations must seek a clearer definition of a ‘rarest of rare’ case, where the death penalty can be handed down by the courts.
