Commander: On Duty Chapter 2

Note: This story is a continuation story of Commander: On Duty Chapter 1, loosely inspired by Hollywood Action-Spy novel Mission Impossible and from true events in India that comprised of- General Bipin Rawat sir's death.

PROLOGUE OF COMMANDER: ON DUTY CHAPTER 1:

A FEW DAYS LATER:

MOUNT BLANC, RUSSIA:

Arjun contacts Sunil Sharma, who has been replaced with Rakesh Varma and tells, "Agent Arjun" reporting to him and he tells, "Arjun. You and Adhithya are assigned to a new mission. The people you are going to deal with are so dangerous."

As Sunil Sharma is telling about this, he sees a message from Arjun, "Mission- On progress" and they plot to start their undercover mission in Russia.

TWO YEARS LATER:

WUHANG LABORATORY, CHINA:

NOVEMBER 29, 2021:

Bio-chemical expert Dr Wu Bohai sends a message for RAW Agent Arjun. He warns telling him, "My dear Indian Friend. The power of biological weapons is ten times more than nuclear power. Unless we act fast with an open mind, any one of them can extinct the human race."

He further warned him, "His employer at Biocyte Pharmaceuticals forced him to develop a biological weapon to profit from the cure."

He arranges to meet with Arjun and Adhithya to deliver the Chimera Virus and its remedy, Bellerophon. With Arjun and Adhithya on a secret mission in Russia, the RAW agent sends Captain Joseph disguised as Arjun to meet Wu Bohai on a passenger plane.

In the plane, Wu Bohai says, "Arjun. We can’t go on much longer morally. We can’t go on much longer scientifically. The technology that was supposed to save us is ready to destroy us. New weapons are being made all the time, including chemical and biological weapons. Today the only bright spot on the horizon of this world is the promise of the coming again of Christ. Here is the Bellerophon to cure the disease."

However, Joseph is greedy and he says to him, "Sir. Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed." Since Bohai looked at him shocked, Joseph says, "I am greedy. Really sorry sir."

Joseph kills Wu Bohai steals Bellerophon and destroys the aircraft to cover their escape. RAW Agent Sunil Sharma called Adhithya and Arjun telling them, "Guys. Wu Bohai died under mysterious circumstances. I determine Joseph is responsible."

Sunil instructed them stating: "Guys. In the field of biological weapons, there is almost no prospect of detecting a virus until it has been used in an attack. We have to take immediate action before something fishy happens."

As instructed by Sunil, the guys pause their Russian mission. Additionally, Sunil tasks the duo with recovering the virus and its cure and has him recruit Janani, a professional thief presently operating in Moscow-- and Joseph's ex-girlfriend. Adhithya successfully recruits her to trace Joseph and his team, and to spy on Joseph, despite her reluctance.

Adhithya assembles his team, computer hacker Yogi Singh and Pilot Ahmed Mansoor in Wuhan, where Biocyte laboratories are located, and Joseph is staying. As Arjun stakes out Biocyte, Janani rekindles her former relationship with Joseph and relays information to Ethan's team. Joseph meets with Biocyte's CEO John David and President Wu Xing and shows him a video of Chimera infecting one of Joseph's colleagues before blackmailing John into cooperating with him. Janani steals the camera's memory card and delivers it to Adhithya. They learn that Chimera has a 20-hour dormant period before it causes death by mass destruction of the victim's red blood cells. Bellerophon can only save the victim if used within that 20-hour window. When Janani discreetly returns the memory card to Joseph, he notices it is in the wrong pocket of his jacket.

Meanwhile, Arjun meets Adhithya and tells, "Hey Adhithya. Listen. To get back Bellerophon, we have only one option. To kidnap CEO John David."

"What? Are you joking? He is world's no. 1 businessman and the head of Illuminatis, who rule the world." Adhithya burst out to which, Arjun says, "If there is no pain, there is no gain."

THREE DAYS LATER:

DECEMBER 2, 2021:

The duo's team kidnaps John David to force him to give up Bellerophon. However, the only Bellerophon samples were taken by Wu Bohai and are now in Joseph's hands. Joseph has the cure but does not have the virus; unbeknownst to him at the time, Wu Bohai injected himself with Chimera to smuggle it out of Biocyte. Joseph plans to exchange a sample of Bellerophon to John for the Chimera.

Arjun and Adhithy's team breaks into Biocyte to destroy the virus before the exchange can take place. Joseph, posing as Arjun, tricks Janani into revealing the plan, then captures Rosie and raids Biocyte to secure the virus.

Arjun and Adhithya can destroy all but one sample of Chimera before Joseph intervenes, and a firefight ensues, culminating in the sample being dropped on the floor between John and Joseph.

Joseph commands Rosie saying, "Janani. Collect the specimen." However, she injects herself with it, preventing Joseph from eliminating her after the retrieval. Janani begs Adhithya and Arjun to kill her along with the virus, but Arjun refuses. Joseph abducts Janani as Arjun and Adhithya flees the facility.

DECEMBER 6, 2021:

Joseph releases Janani to wander the streets of China in a daze, intending to start a pandemic. He offers to sell Bellerophon to John in exchange for stock options to make him Biocyte's majority shareholder. He plans to get rich from Biocyte's stock due to demand for Bellerophon after Chimera is released. Arjun-Adhithya infiltrates the meeting and steals the remaining samples of Bellerophon. While Arjun is pursued by Joseph's men, Adhithya and Yogi locate Janani, who has wandered to a cliffside, intent on killing herself to prevent the eventual outbreak. Arjun kills Joseph's men, but Joseph chases him to a beach, where Arjun defeats him in a brutal fistfight. With little time left on the 20-hour countdown, Yogi reaches Arjun at the beach.

As Arjun is about to give Yogi the Bellerophon canister, Joseph recovers and points a gun at Arjun. Arjun throws the canister to Yogi and jumps away from Joseph's shot while kicking up a pistol from the sand he uses to finally kill. Yogi injects Janani with the Bellerophon in time to save her.

Janani thanked Arjun-Adhithya and bid goodbye to them.

ONE DAY LATER

DECEMBER 8, 2021

NEW DELHI:

5:30 PM:

While Arjun destroyed the virus Arjun-Adhithya meets Sunil Sharma at the New Delhi office.

Sunil asked them, "Have the virus been stopped?"

However, Adhithya tells him, "Sir. Our mission is not yet complete. However, we managed to prevent the virus sir."

"What? Are you serious?" asked Sunil Sharma.

Arjun tells, "It's serious sir. Coming December 8, 2021, our Defence Chief Mahesh Rawat is giving a lecture to the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington."

"Yeah. He is attending it. I too know this well." As Sunil said this, Arjun tells: "Sir. When we were in Russia, we saw Pakistan terrorists discussing some important plans to kill our Defence Chief, by showcasing Coonoor map."

Shocked, Sunil questioned them: "Why didn't you inform this man?"

"Sir. We thought of informing you. But, you told me about the Bioweapon issue. So, we decided not to tell this and instead made a plan to proceed with the prevention of bio war." Arjun said.

Sunil researches the reason behind this. So, Adhithya says: "After the brutal Pulvama attack, Mahesh sir sent us to do surgical strike against Pakistan sir. So, we destroyed the base camp and the important places, where terrorists reside and as retribution, this plan is hatched by the terrorist's sir."

"Not only this sir. The Chinese army was chased out with a brave step by Mahesh sir. So, they were angry and the President want to destroy him anyway." Arjun says to him. Sunil gets to know from the security guards and army that, At 11:48 a.m. local time, the helicopter took off with 10 passengers and 4 crew members from Sulur Air Force Station.

SULUR AIR FORCE STATION:

Panicked and puzzled, Adhithya and Arjun rush to the Sulur Air Force station at a nick of time with Sunil Sharma. They cancel the flight journey to Wellington and instead take Rawat in a car, arranged with tight security forces and protection. Mahesh Rawat successfully completes the lecture and he returns back safely to the Indian Army.

Upon learning the news about Mahesh Rawat from the anti-nationals of India, President Wu Xing becomes frustrated and madly shouts. While Pakistan terrorists are angry. Now, Adhithya smiled and said to Arjun, "Our mission is successful, Commander."

"These two missions are successful, since we were on duty, Adhithya. However, there's one more problem still prolonging in the world."

"What's that Arjun?"

"Corona. I mean the Covid-19 pandemic. That's still spreading across the world. I don't know whether it's a natural or a biological weapon. Yet, I could say that the Third World war would not be fought with nuclear or chemical weapons. But, it would be fought with biological weapons." Adhithya laughed upon hearing this from Arjun. They both get a call from Sunil, "Arjun-Adhithya. Come up to the line."

"Yes sir," Arjun-Adhithya said and proceeds to meet him.

EPILOGUE:

1.) Command is a mountaintop. The air breathed it is different, and the perspectives seen there are different, from those of the valley of obedience. The passion for order and the genius for construction, which are part of man's natural endowment, get full play there. The man who has grown great sees from the top of his tower what he can make, if he so wills, of the swarming masses below him.
