Day 3 of Lockdown #COVID - 19

Diary of a new mother 

My entire series of these 21 days will be based on my experience of being in this lockdown and staying home as a first time mother of a 5-month-old baby, Anvay. 

Dear Diary,

Play-gym it is! Yes, Anvay’s favourite toy is the play-gym and its parts. Now that he is rolling over we have dismantled all the parts. He has started recognising the various toys that are hung there. Lion and monkey have been the top among his preferences. His recent craze is holding and crushing the panda which makes a crackling noise when crushed in the hand. His tiny little hands are able to grasp all the hanging toys. The elephant teether is yet to become his favourite though because he doesn’t know in which angle this can be held so that it goes into his mouth well. Anvay likes to taste everything; by now, all of Anvay’s toys have had their abhishek with his drool. The little piano that plays songs on repeat mode has become his new licking zone. The lights attract him and the songs make him happy. Yd and I keep humming the 5 songs whenever we have to entertain him. Then we look at each other and laugh saying, ‘Kya din aa gaye?’

Bathing and oil massage time is fun with Anvay. With each passing day he is becoming difficult to manage while I give him an oil massage. He just doesn’t want to stay still in one place and enjoys grinning looking at his pati. Evening walks in our mini-terrace is fun because we use baby-wearing as a hack to put him to sleep for an hour at least. Evening time is meant for a video call to his grandparents who will be waiting to see him in action every day. For my parents who are stuck in lockdown with nothing much to do at home, watching Anvay for those 5-10 minutes is like the first few raindrops on parched land. 

My baby is becoming active and his sleep cycles are not very constant. There is a 3hr-3hr-2hr pattern at night. I really want him to sleep better but I guess Dilli abhi bahut door hai !!!
