Param or Parambrata was surrounded by all the caregiving people employed to keep him well. Since Param had lost his mother early his father employed caregivers to take the place of his mother. His mother had passed away while giving birth so Param had never known what mother's love was. But he had been well looked after by his businessman father. A successful trader of wooden logs and wood substitutes, Param's father Abhaycharan had never remarried even after suggestions by his relatives. He feared that his son could not be taken care of well by a stepmother. He had not made any wrong judgment because Param had been very well taken care of and also loved by his so many caregivers around him. But Param had now grown and was a teenager studying in college. The so much of care and support was now stepping on his independence and at times was becoming a botheration of sorts for Param. Unlike other normal kids, the amount of freedom for Param was severely restricted. So most of the time beyond college life, Param spent time at home reading books and writing poetry. He had very limited friends and they were all confined to his college. No friends visited him. In between now, Param had become conscious of the presence of a girl in college named Doel. He liked her very much as her presence somehow electrified his thoughts and helped him write many poems singing praises on her beauty. But although he had fallen in love with Doel but never had the courage to talk to her about it. His attendants however noticed the change in behavior so they immediately informed Abhaycharan about his son's activities. This made Abhaycharan get worried and know the time had come to search for a soulmate for his son.

Paro or Paromita was a darling daughter of her parents. She along with her cousin's sister, her uncle's daughter was the only two girls in both the family. Her teacher father was a very doting dad and her mother a strict disciplinarian. But all this could not help deter her from loving a local boy named Sanat, a gym enthusiast to the core. Every day while on the way to college, Paro would flirt with Sanat who would generally be surrounded by his coterie of friends. Life moved on. Paro whiling her time by flirting with Sanat and on the other side, Param secretly observes Doel but does not have the courage to speak to her.

Abhaycharan had employed people known to him to search for a bride for Param. These many sources had brought information that there was a good well-off family that had a beautiful daughter and this family was also in search of a groom.

Paro was now getting irritated that every day her parents and especially her mother would nag her about marriage. Initially, she was very reluctant because she had a crush on the gymnast Sanat. Paro loved Sanat for his well-chiseled body. But Sanat could not understand the feelings of Paro nor did they share anything about their love and affection. Paro was expecting that Sanat should propose to her so that she might take it to the next level and talk about it with her guardians. But the proposal never came and she became visibly annoyed with Sanat. She stopped all communications with him. This took Sanat by surprise but did not dare ask Paro in fear of further antagonization. Meanwhile, when her family was going ahead with the marriage she had given her consent in disgust as revenge towards Sanat.

Param on the other hand was trying to get warm towards Doel but could not sum up the courage to speak out.

As time was passing and unfortunately for Param, the family of Doel fixed her marriage with a groom from another town. But, the marriage of Doel never took place. It was canceled due to dowry issues. So her full family was very dejected and crestfallen. Doel was indifferent though because she had not given her heart to somebody. When Param heard this news, he felt sad for Doel and her family but on the other hand, he found his chances were bright. He had written a collection of poems for Doel. So he took the poem book and presented it to her at her house. Then he stood there as if to say something but couldn't utter a word. Doel also felt embarrassed. She asked Param, '' Do you want to say something? ''. Param thought this was his chance but felt his tongue getting tied within. He just kept standing there haplessly and after a few agonizing moments uttered '' Nothing '' and then hurriedly came out. But Param could not overcome the feeling that he was so close to Doel and could have held her hand in his. This pain would remain within him forever and could never forgive himself for missing out on his first love.

When Sanat found out that Paro had stopped all communications, he became desperate. He tried all the tricks in the trade to regain lost love but miserably failed.

Meanwhile, marriage talks had reached an advanced level. Finally, two unwilling souls were married to each other, Param and Paro.

Even though Paro had done the marriage to please her parents but she could not give her heart to Param. Because Param was a very well-mannered meek person who could be easily subdued. Paro loved someone like Sanat, dashing and strong. So she again started communication channels with Sanat. With this Sanat was overjoyed and told his friends that he would not let this opportunity go to waste.

Param had seen Paro talking to Sanat and thus being caught Paro felt very ashamed of herself. Later when they were together, Param had given his consent to Paro to meet her boyfriend. Paro felt more ashamed and wanted to know why Param was not getting annoyed by her behavior. Then Param confided that he also loved someone but that love had been one-sided. Param then narrated his story and his poems on Doel.

Slowly, Paro found a gentleman character in Param and she felt that she could not cheat such a sage-like person. Guilt started to slowly eat into Paro's heart. She decided that she must stop seeing Sanat and end all relationships with him finally.

Sanat, however, would not let this second chance of being getting to love Paro go to waste. He became more determined than ever. He kept up his tirade of trying to meet Paro but Paro would have none of it. She blocked his telephone number and stopped answering unknown calls.

Even when Paro was going out with Param for marketing or just loitering in the park, Sanat would keep a watchful eye on the couple. When all attempts failed to woo Paro back then Sanat became desperate with anger and frustration. He now became hell-bent to draw away Paro from Param at any cost. He had a licensed firearm with him which he had once bought just as a fad. The situation was leading him to the extreme point to have to make use of the weapon.

On one occasion when Paro and Param were walking hand in hand in a big park, Sanat kept an unwavering vigil over their movements. Slowly the couple went under a tree and Paro embraced Param and gave a peck on his cheek. Param then drew Paro's face close to his and locked his lip with hers. Then all of a sudden there was a sound and immediately Param slumped to the floor bleeding from his chest. Paro was taken totally aback. She was too shocked to react. Then she stooped low over the prostrate body of Param and tried to find out how he was. She realized that Param had left for his heavenly abode as there was no life in his body. Next, she saw Sanat coming out of a bush nearby with a gun in his hand. In an instant, she had known what had happened and immediately there was no doubt in the mind of her next step. Sanat was approaching Paro with a victorious look on his face. Paro also went towards as if she was glad to see him. On reaching him, Paro seized the gun from Sanat and fired two quick bullets through his chest. Sanat fell to the ground and died instantly.

Finally, with a melancholy look on her face, Paro sat down on the ground taking Param by his head and keeping it on her lap. She had lost all remorse and softness and tragedy her steeled her tenderness. With the head of Param still on her lap, she aimed the gun at her head and fired. By doing this she had hoped to be reunited with her loving husband Param in heaven.

The next day, the local newspaper came out with this story with the tragic heading - - 'Farewell Dear Love - - Rest in Peace.
