Karamchand Jasoos

Karamchand Jasoos was an Indian detective TV series that was broadcast on national television in the year 1985.

The protagonist's role was played by Pankaj Kapur while his assistant's role was played by Sushmita Mukherjee. Here the detective Karamchand helped the police team in uncovering murder mysteries and unsolved cases.

Inspired by this serial, Bhabesh Chatterjee named his son Sinu, as Karamchand (good name). Sinu was born in 1987. He completed his studies at St. James' School, Kolkata, and Presidency University. 

Now Sinu is a full-time detective besides helping in his father's printing press business when he is not solving crime cases. 

He has a tie-up with the police department who take his help and reward him upon solving the case. 

This story is about one such case which the police was finding difficult to solve. 

There lived a Sharma couple in the neighborhood of Sinu. They had lost their first daughter, Shikha who was kidnapped a day after her delivery from the nursing home. A woman had kidnapped their daughter in the disguise of a nurse. It was evident from the CCTV camera but the identity of that woman could not be disclosed. The couple's second daughter was born three years after the birth of Shikha. 

The couple could never forget Shikha and circulated her infant photo in all the nearby police offices from time to time. 

The Sharma couple had named their second daughter Neha. Sinu's office was near Neha's school. So he used to drop her at school many times and also bring her back. 

On one such day, he saw Neha coming out of school with another girl who was three years older. Neha had befriended her in school. Her name was Shilpi. 

But the thing was that Shilpi and Neha had a striking resemblance, just like there is a close resemblance between siblings. Here though they both looked just like twins, but three years apart. 

Sinu thought to take this matter up. He clicked their pictures together and showed them to the Sharma couple. Mrs. Sharma could not believe her eyes and said this must be their own daughter Shikha. 

They took the help of the police who went to Shilpi's house and did an inquiry. Finally, the matter was taken to the court and a DNA test was conducted which proved that Shilpi was indeed Shikha. 

The woman who raised Shilpi all these years was sentenced to eight years in prison. Shilpi, however, said that she would remain her mother as always since she was the one whom she has called and known as her mom for all these years. 

Now Shilpi lives with Neha and her biological parents. 

And the Sharma family and police have thanked Sinu aka Karamchand for solving this kidnapping case. Sinu, however, thinks that this was destiny that brought the sisters together .

He has now put up a newly built board on his office walls which reads 'Karamchand Jasoos'.
