Kif

Mobile Alarm rang. Kif opens his eye. He has to go to Putrajaya today for attestation of some documents.

        Kif turned on the light and went to get brush and toothpaste. While he was brushing his teeth with toothbrush in right hand, he lifted liquid Sunsilk shampoo and Lifebuoy bodywash in the left hand. He came out of room and closed the door. He returned after 20 minutes and got ready with black shirt and black pant and black shoes. He look at the mirror and tell himself ‘ You look angel by heart and animal by appearance. The Universe hates you Kif’. Someone has been following Kif since few days and Kif noticed that. ‘ Oh God! I do not want to die in the street like a Dog’ said Kif. It was just a slip of tongue and Kif was not sure why he uttered so.

Kif took his phone to message in Transporter telegram group. This is famous group within Gombak campus students and most of the drivers are students. Students can easily make pocket money via transporter services if they have car. The service is also easy and fast compared to grab driver apps. Kif posted on the group . 3 drivers responded in personal message. 1st one asked for 150rm. 2nd driver asked for RM80 and the last driver asked for RM60. Kif chose the 3rd driver since this is profitable deal.

Driver came exact time at the Bus stop and Kif get on the car. He did not talk with driver much before he completed his tasks. He finished his task by afternoon. Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs work very fast. Kif gave thanks to Driver and now he is happy and started to talk with him.

‘IIUM Visa unit is now working fast. How is your visa status?’

‘true, I got visa for one year last week’

‘do you think student movement works out’

‘I do think but students are treated like third class citizens of every country’

‘I faced so many issues and I know even if you do mistake slightly, you get refused’

‘What do you mean?’

‘ I applied Poland recently and I had all documents ready and I had only one issue which is my passport expiry date, I got refused even if I had explanation letter saying my new passport is on the way and I had recommendation from my lecturer’

‘Which university is that?’

‘Adam Mickiewicz University’

‘In fact, I have full scholarship there. I went for 3rd time in embassy and consular said to apply after one year as it is in the law. The light mistake and you are done’

‘ Not really I think…I heard USA gave 5 years visa even though you do not have enough expiry date of your passport’

‘ maybe, I have one friend who received Canadian visa for 3 years and he had no visa in Malaysia and he was taking especial pass from Malaysian immigration for last 1 year. ’

‘Especially after Covid, Malaysian immigration is giving more excuses’

‘I am not sure but I heard they had fighting with IIUM Visa unit because IIUM visa unit staffs delay to submit passports whereas no other university in Malaysia does so.Oh yeah…I heard UPM also had some issues since there are so many international students are there’

‘Yesterday one PhD student was telling that some of the lecturers left this country even though they had permanent residency here’

‘ No future for their children. I think this is natural’

‘ My friend is in Poland and he is about to finish his master and he got full time job already and the rules is Poland I heard that they will give 1 year after graduation just to look for job and if you find any job , you can stay there and once you spend 5 years there you can apply for PR and after 10 years you can get passport, but what these lecturers are getting here? After working for years, they even do not get anything like those countries. Two professors were discussing one day about not letting enter in the mosque during Covid because he was foreigner’

‘One professor went to request for one kind of permission for his son related pharmacy degree and the professor got no positive response after years of trying. The professor also got permeant residency here and he is serving the university more than 25 years and he said in the ministry some of them are my students. Yet it is very difficult for him to get permission.’

‘One story was told by professor that Mahathir’s son lost in some kind of business and Anwar was finance minister during that time and Mahathir was okey whatever Anwar used to say. In fact, Islamic university was built up due to the condition that Anwar put to join with Mahathir. And What happened was when Anwar was asked to spend public money to those who lost in business including Mahathir’s Son. Anwar said that I can not betray with my country’s people. Mahathir said that’s fine I give you off day and you go to holiday in overseas and let me deal with this issue and you can join after that. Anwar was high in ethics and he was confident that he has support from his party because the general people like him and Anwar has no background like aristocrat family and Kings also do not prefer Anwar due to his background and ethical issue. Then, Mahathir said you must resign by tomorrow and if not, I will sue you from that position. We were praying Solatul Hajat(morning prayers for Muslims) and Anwar was with us praying and what happened it they sue Anwar at morning and news came in TV’

‘Damn… that’s explosive’

‘I think if Chinese has all the qualities that Muslims should have and if they see these Malays as example of Muslim. Who would accept Islam?’

‘They take especial position by using the name of being Muslim whereas the justice should be upheld when you claim as a Muslim rather the Muslims should make sure the justice for others first’

Driver reached at UIA and dropped Kif at Bus Stop.

‘Here you go you RM60 and this RM20 is extra’

‘Sorry …if you do not mind, I usually do not go to Putrajaya less than RM110, but I did not notice earlier I thought you would go somewhere around Kuala Lumpur and you did not mention Putrajaya there’

‘No worries take RM30 more. I actually went last year and I paid around RM110 and that’s fine.’

‘Please do not get angry’

‘It is okey this is your time to learn marketing skills since you are BBA student. In fact, I felt shy when you asked such low amount because one of my lecturers told when foreign workers come and they work hard so much with little wage then Bosses take advantage of these. Another lecturer said that when you put illegal immigrant inside country, the development work goes high in rate and that’s good for country but that’s how interest works. Anyway, I am really happy that at least you ask for your right. Thank you’

Kif was getting out of Car and closed the car door and suddenly a motorbike came and hit Kif. There was no time to think for Kif.
