Kolkata-The City of Joy

Kolkata is the most attractive place in West Bengal. It is the most visited place in the whole state. My family, including my aunt, planned a trip to the ancient town of Kolkata. Kolkata is a place situated on the banks of the River Ganga. The city is very wonderful. It was a wintry morning and the date was 25th December. The day was also too special for the city. Our train was booked beforehand and we reached Howrah Station within two hours. From there, we booked a cab to our hotel that was also booked before. After reaching the hotel room, we decided to visit the famous St. Cathedral Church at night. We were tired. After taking a long nap, at nearly 5 pm, we started the journey to 'Maidan Station' via metro rail. Metro rail, was also too interesting vehicle. Electrically controlled, beautiful inner designs and the speed of the vehicle seemed so interesting. Our journey was from 'Central Station' to 'Maidan Station'. The ticket fare for each person was Rs. 20.

After reaching the station, I was thinking to be in a dream. The beautiful Victoria Memorial was standing in front of my eyes and the wonderful lightings of the Park Street roadsides made me draw up a fantasy world in my mind. The whole scenery was so awesome. Then, we entered the Cathedral Church. The Church was decorated beautifully. As I entered the Church, I noticed the beautiful artistic touches on the walls and the ceiling of the church. There was silence all around except the Father chanting the holy Christian words. There were bundles of roses and candles on the small stand. After coming from there, I urged my father to make me see the Birla Planetarium. It was also fun there. The next day, we went to see the holy Kalighat Temple and the Dakshineshwar Temple.

Both the temples were of Hindu Goddess that is, Mahakali. The idols were looking so beautiful that I thought them to be made on that day itself. Then, after taking lunch, we went to see the Museum. The Museum was holding a collection of ancient articles like bottles, swords, daggers, pistols, idols, etc. In the first chamber of the museum, there was a room, especially for ancient arts. It holds arts from the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. From there, we visited the Eden Gardens, many temples, grounds, and at last, went back to our destination, our hotel. We passed three days in Kolkata, it was awesome. But, the thing, which was of the main attraction, was the 'Rasgulla'. The Kolkata Rasgulla is the main thing that attracts most of the people. Kolkata is so good place to enjoy, but the most negative point of this city is the pollution level. The pollution level of Kolkata is going up and up every day. The city is getting covered with a sheet of poisonous gases. But, I must agree to this fact that ‘Kolkata is the most technical and sight-seeing place in West Bengal.’
