At the end of the Satya Yuga, humans were not worshipping the Gods and were not following a religion. The Gods did not appreciate this and decided to flood the earth as a sort of punishment. To do this Lord Vishnu wrote down guidelines and information known as the Vedas and handed it to Lord Brahma. However, a demon named Hayagriva Steals the Vedas and hides in the depths of the ocean. To save the Vedas and save the First man he is one of the only people still worshipping. His name is King Satyavrata or Manu. One day a Fish swims into Manu’s hands and asks Manu to save him and take him home. Manu did just had and put the fish into a bowl of water. Soon the fish outgrew that and Manu kept moving him until he would only fit in the ocean. He then realized that the fish was Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu told him that soon a flood would come that would destroy all of human life. Lord Vishnu instructed Manu to build a boat and take medicinal herbs, seeds, the seven saints, Vasuki the Serpent, and other animals. Vishnu said when the storm starts gets on the boat and I will bring you to safety. Manu did as told and got on the boat then the fish appeared and told manu to tie Vasuki around by horn. Then Lord Vishnu took then to the highest and the only pieces of dry land left the Himalayas. He told them to start a new civilization. At this time a new Yuga started. Lord Vishnu then killed the demon Hayagriva and gives the Vedas to Lord Brahma.
