Sick fertility doctors

Our father is the newest Netflix show that recently aired. It is a documentary about a fertility doctor that used his own sperm to impregnate his patients without their consent. 

How this all came to be was by a 23andMe test taken by Jacoba Ballard in 2014. This test eventually revealed the horror story she shared with a now estimated 90 half-siblings: an Indiana fertility doctor named Donald Cline had been using his semen to impregnate female patients without them knowing and without their consent.

If you watched this show you couldn't help but to be moved by what had happened to so many women who trusted this man. This was their gynecologist, a trusted man of the medical community, hell even a "man of God" an elder in his church. These women came to him, desperate to have a child and he took advantage of them. 

I was deeply pissed off and thought, especially if you are a woman, that you would also feel this way. Having an exam is a deeply personal thing for women, even traumatic for others. To know this man was jerking off minutes before he touched you and then inserting his sperm into you just makes my skin crawl. 

Yet he did this for years, and to thousands of women, why? Some sick idea of his own genes being reproduced? Some God complex? We will never know because he will never be charged with a crime, instead he just left behind a trail of broken children and families and walked away free.

As if this wasn't bad enough, it gets worse as he also treated his own offspring. One of his "children's" mothers, who years ago came to him about her infertility, was a friend and he impregnated with his sperm. Years later her daughter also came to him as she knew he had helped her mother become pregnant with her and her twin, so she trusted him. She broke down telling her story that he knew she was his offspring yet still touched her and helped her conceive. This was revolting, this was truly a sick man to do this to his own "child" 

There was nothing further that was said about the paternity of her own children but I know I couldn't help but wonder.

In 2018, he was convicted of two felonies: of hindering the investigation and of lying about using his own semen. He was fined just $500 and lost his medical licence – however, he’d been retired since 2009, so it didn't even matter to him. Unfortunately Cline is still alive, he's in his 80s, and has served no time for his malpractice. He also doesn't seem to have any remorse for his actions, and has never explained why he did it. The documentary speculates it could be a god delusion, “a sick experiment” or even to raise a white supremacist “Aryan clan.

We will never know why this sick bastard did this.

There have been 44 doctors that used their own sperm to inseminate fertility patients. There is no federal law against this.

Dr Cline is the most prolific of these doctors fathering 94 children.

 As of the premiere of this show, they are trying to pass new laws so this doesn't happen to any other people. Let us all try to be the change we want to see.
