The Fight

The Fight

The beast jumped on me, grabbing my head with one hand and swinging back the other hand to punch me. I stabbed the knife into his left eye with as much force as possible. The knife went through his left eye and was buried hilt-deep in it. The beast screamed out in pain and flung me through the air into the water with a huge amount of force. I heard a cracking sound from one of my shoulders as I hit the water. I surfaced to see the beast still alive, jumping at me, trying to kill me with its last dying efforts. I was not holding the paddle anymore. I threw my hands out to try and protect myself. The beast hit me with all it had left, causing my hand to gain a huge bruise. The beast swung its fist at me again. I dodged it and started punching its face with all my energy. The beast began blocking my punches, but eventually, it stopped and sank into the water, dead. I swam around, gathering my things, my adrenaline still high after the one-sided fight. I managed to put back together the pieces of my boat. I got on it and started paddling. I went some distance paddling and then passed out.

When I woke up the sun was low on the horizon. The eastern horizon. It was early morning. I had slept the entire day and night. I was late. My brother might be dead, and here I had been sleeping! I began paddling as fast as I could, thinking of my brother.
