As soon as the front door closed shut behind me, Cassy appears out of nowhere. Chipper was bouncing in her spot, she bombards me with questions. “Did you give him the letter? Was he happy? Sad? Ooh, does he still do that sexy half-smirk of his? Gosh, I haven’t seen that in a long while.”

She giggles to herself before she finally took notice of my demeanor. Her smile fades quickly as she sobers. “Oh no. It was bad, wasn’t it?” She looks down, suddenly solemn. I couldn’t just let her be sad. I couldn’t explain it but I can’t stand to see this girl upset.

If someone would have told me a few months ago I would be living in a house that had a teenage ghost trapped inside that asks for my help, I would have probably checked them into a loony bin. I have to admit though, I did adjust to it all quickly, and it hardly even bothers me that this girl is indeed, dead.

Placing my hand on her shoulder in a friendly gesture, I finally spoke. “I won’t lie to you Cassy, it didn’t go as smoothly as I hoped it would have. However, given the circumstances, I think his reaction was justified.” She nods in understanding before I rounded her to head for the kitchen. It has been a long day and I really just need to eat and then go to sleep.

Cassy hops up onto the counter as I search the fridge and cabinets for food. Dang, I really have to go grocery shopping soon. Maybe I will tomorrow after work. Pulling the milk out of the fridge, I settle on a bowl of cereal. Pouring my bowl, I sit down at the bar beside where Cassy has placed herself.

“So, I was thinking, maybe you can message my brother on social media. Tell him you found some of our family photographs and a note addressed to him. Ask if he is ever in town and could pick them up. The fact that you are gorgeous, will definitely get his attention. He will obviously reply.” I snort through my nose at her.

Through a mouthful of food, I reply. “Yeah. Cause that wouldn’t sound strange. Also, I don’t think my looks will do anything for your brother if I’m mentioning his dead sister. You do remember you are dead, correct?”

Her eyes widen before she bursts out with laughter. Slapping her knee, she bends over clutching her stomach. “Oh my gosh! Abby, you are so funny. Of course, I remember I’m dead silly. I also know how my brother is. He is a total playboy, trust me when I say, he will reply. Hell, I wouldn’t even put it past him to drive all the way here just to meet you in person, in a completely none creeper way. He is a total sweetheart, just can be a bit forward sometimes.”

Rolling my eyes at her, I walk over and pluck my laptop off the stand it was sitting on, bringing it back to the counter where I could finish my food. Bringing his page up, I type out a message to him.

Hi, you don’t know me, but my name is Abby. I bought your old home and I couldn’t in good conscience throw out all of your family’s beautiful pictures. I also found a pink envelope addressed to you, hence how I looked you up and knew how you looked. I really hope this isn’t creepy, but I was wondering if you wanted to come to pick these things up or if you could give me an address to ship them to you. Let me know. :)

Biting my nails, I contemplate sending it. Was it too wordy? Too creepy? Before I could change my mind, Cassy pokes down hard on the ‘enter’ key, sending the message with a whoosh. Mouth agape, I stare at her. “Why did you do that? That message sounds totally creepy! I was trying to figure out how to reword it. Ugh, Cassy if you weren’t dead I would kill you.”

She stifles a laugh before shrugging her shoulders. Banging my head on the counter, I guess I can’t do anything but sit and wait for a reply. Pushing the computer away, I finish my cereal. Placing the bowl in the sink and checking once to see if he has replied. Nope. No new messages. That boy totally thinks I’m a creepy stalker.

Shaking my head, I make my way up the stairs to my room. Walking in, Cassy is already laying across my bed, my old yearbook laying in front of her. It baffles me how she just poofs to where she wants to in the house. I guess it is kind of cool in a way. “Your school had some really cute boys! O-M-G, look at this guy - total hunk!” She points to one picture, my blood running cold as I realize she was talking about my adoptive brother.

Standing straight, I clear my throat. “Yeah, totally. Um- I’m going to get a shower. Please don’t follow me in there like you did last night. I’d like some privacy while I shower.” I look at her pointedly.

Cassy held her hands up in surrender. “Hey. I have already apologized! Anyways, I don’t see the big deal, we are both girls. I have what you have, no reason to be self-conscious either. You have a hot bod-” I cut her off by slamming the bathroom door shut.

However, frustrating as she is, I am also kind of glad she is here. I have never really had any girlfriends, so this is a nice change. After letting the warm water from the shower destress my aching muscles, I jump out. Quickly changing into shorts and a tank top, I walk out.

Cassy is still laying in the same position, still looking at my yearbook. Upon seeing me, she decides to voice her curiosity. “Tell me which of these guys were your high school boyfriends?” Her question had me smirking, while her accusation had me wanting to laugh out loud.

Laying down beside her, I shrug my shoulders. “I never actually had a boyfriend. However, I did have a fling with this guy.” I turned the page, looking for the right guy and pointing him out to her. Her jaw drops, her eyes widening.

Cassy let out a squeal as she pushed me over. “Oh my gosh! You hussy! He is so yummy-lishious! Tell me more.” I laugh at her. As I settle in, making myself comfortable before telling her all about my high school days and the drama around the school. It is refreshing to talk to someone about things that used to bother me. My adoptive mother surely didn’t listen. I talked until I couldn’t anymore and I faded into dreamland.
