Value of labour

Once there lived a rich businessman in the city.He had a son who was lazy and spendthrift.He didnot know the value of money or the importance of labour.

So the businessman decided to teach his son this important lesson of life.

He called his son the next day in the morning and said that from today onwards the latter would get only one meal at dinner time but only if he shows the businessman some amount of money obtained by him.

The son first took this as a joke.However he understood the seriousness of the matter by seeing the grave face of his father.

The first day his mother helped him by giving him a gold coin.At dinner time the son gave it to his father.The businessman took it and understood that it was not earned by the son.He therefore told the son to throw the coin in the backyard well.The son obliged and then had his dinner.

The next day the father sent the boy's mother to her father's home on some pretext.The boy went to his grandfather knowing that his mother was not at home.

The grandfather gave the boy some coins which the latter again threw in the well after being directed to do so by his father.

The businessman told his father and the boy's grandfather not to help the boy further .The latter agreed.

Hence the boy had to go out to earn money this time.Finally he got work of unloading a truck full of bags of grains.He had no choice.He toiled all day and finally came home with hundred rupees.His full body was aching with pain.

As usual his father asked him to throw the money in the backyard well.This time the boy however refused and cried .He said that he could not throw the money which he had to earn while working so hard!

The businessman looked at his son with affection and said that now the latter understood the value of labour!

Beforehand he threw the money as he did not understand the amount of hard work and effort was put in earning it as he had not earned it.But now he had known it.

The boy thanked his father for teaching this valuable lesson to him.From now onwards he worked hard and became a laborious and good businessman like his father .
