Colin looked over at Adina. She was sitting in the car, happily eating her ice cream. She looked cute, then she scooped up another spoon of ice cream and put in her mouth and left it there as she was absorbed by a thought.

Then she didn’t look cute anymore, but sexy as hell, and Colin felt his body react to it. He looked at the clock and realized they wouldn’t have time for any fun activities before their next meeting. He tried to focus on the road and push other thoughts aside.

As they came up to the pack house, Adina just finished her ice cream and Colin took his half-full cup of coffee before they headed in.

“Want something to drink before we head up? Coffee, tea?” Colin asked her. He was still worried she might be cold after the ice cream. He saw her looking at the clock.

“Can you mind link Doc and ask him if he would like something?” she asked. Colin smiled at her.

That was his mate. She always thought about others. He felt his wolf puff up his chest with pride.

‘Adina would like to know if you would like something to drink or eat during our meeting.’ His mind linked to Doc. There was a brief silence before the answer came.

‘That is very considerate of her. I could use a cup of tea. I’m bringing Amy as well. She says she would prefer a coffee.’ Doc replied.

Colin forwarded the information to Adina. He thought he saw a slight frown when he mentioned Amy. But it was gone so quickly that he must have imagined it. Adina began setting up a tray, searching around for something, and he saw a frown on her brows.

“What are you looking for, babe?” he asked.

“Don’t we have any cookies or biscuits or any type of baked goods in this house?” she frowned.

“When we get them, they magically disappear within an hour” Colin laughed. In a house full of werewolves, things like that never lasted.

“Hmm, well finger sandwiches it is,” Adina declared, and started making small sandwiches.

Colin just stood there watching her. Amazed at what she could produce in ten minutes. When they headed up to his office, he was carrying a tray with two mugs of coffee, a pot of tea, milk, sugar, teacups, and a plate of sandwiches. Adina indicated he should place it at the coffee table, so he did, and then gave Adina a warm kiss.

“I’m happy we get to spend the day together like this. I enjoy having you with me when I do things like this,” he said earnest.

“I like it too,” Adina said, smiling, looking up at him.

Colin could get lost in her pale green eyes for hours. But was awakened by a knock on the office doors. Colin smiled, placed a kiss on top of Adina’s head, and told his guest to come in.

Doc and Amy walked into the office, both greeting Colin with a slight bow. Doc repeated the gesture to Adina, but Colin saw that before Amy greeted Adina, she shot her a look that almost made him growl. Had he seen correctly? Had there been ill will in Amy’s eyes? Colin was so focused on this that he just stood there, looking at Amy. Adina invited the guests to sit down and laid a hand on his arm to make him focus.

When they all had their beverage of choice, they started talking about the vaccinations. Everything was running smoothly. No new pups had become ill and, overall, Doc declared it a huge success. He complemented Adina for making it all possible, and it was then that Colin thought he saw another one of those looks from Amy to Adina.

He instinctively placed his arm around Adina’s shoulders to protect her. This time, he was almost certain of the look. But he had known Amy since they were cubs. She had always been a good pack member. Maybe self-absorbed when they were younger, but he had thought that she had matured when she volunteered to train to become pack doctor.

As they thanked Doc and Amy for coming, Adina started gathering the dishes and preparing to take them down to the kitchen. Once they were alone, Colin took the tray away from her and asked her to sit with him. They had finished the meetings for today. He still had some paperwork to get done, but it could wait.

“Adina, I need to ask you something about Amy,” he started as they both were sitting on the couch, facing each other.

Colin had his one arm laying on the back of the couch, his hand resting on Adina’s shoulder.

“Okay,” Adina said, sounding uncomfortable. That was all the proof Colin needed.

“When did she give you those looks?” he asked, skipping the part where he asked if he had actually seen what he thought he saw.

“Since you introduced her to me the first night,” Adina said. Colin looked at her in shock.

“Why haven’t you told me?”

“Should I have said that your future pack doctor has the hots for you? That she thinks she should stand in my place?” Adina answered with a smile.

“If I were in her shoes, I wouldn’t be happy either,” she added. Colin was at a loss for words. First, he didn’t have a clue that Amy had such feelings for him. Second, he was not happy that she had made Adina aware of them.

“That is beside the point,” he huffed. “She should respect you as her luna, regardless of what feeling she may or may not have towards me. And I do not have feelings for her,” he quickly added.

He didn’t need Adina to think that Amy and he had something between them. Adina smiled and placed a hand on his cheek.

“I know honey, if you had, it wouldn’t have taken you this long to see the looks. You missed them because you don’t focus your attention on her,” she simply said.

Colin was so grateful to the moon goddess that she had made Adina his mate. She was beyond perfect. He placed his hand on top of hers and turned his face so he could plant a kiss on her palm.

“I’m grateful to hear that you noticed. My eyes are always on you,” he said, and she smiled at him.

“I need to deal with this. Would you stay with me?” he asked, and Adina nodded.

He let one omega know they needed someone to pick up the tray and when a maid came, Adina took the time to ask for her name and talk a bit with her. The young girl looked enamoured with Adina and Colin was happy taking a back seat and just watching Adina work.

When they were alone again, Colin moved one of the visitor chairs to the other side of the desk, making a note to have another office chair put in four times like this. He mind linked Amy to order her to come to his office and then asked Adina to join him at his desk.

When Amy knocked on the door, Adina was seated next to him, and he felt ready. As Amy walked in, she looked nervous and took the seat opposite Adina and him when he indicated it.
