Rishabh, a young businessman, is surprised to see his girl friend Divya at the Mumbai airport. He was already in the company of a girlfriend Kiran leaving for Goa. Yet another surprise awaited for Rishabh was that Divya was also proceeding to Goa and the seat allotted to her was  the same seat number, which was already allotted to Kiran. Both the women knew each other and settled the issue and got a side by side seat with the help of an airline officer. Rishabh got the window seat. The middle seat was forcibly occupied by Kiran. Divya was not happy with Kiran for her rude behaviour. Kiran also knew that Divya was in love with Rishabh.

Rishabh's mind was busy about these two girl friends. He was deeply moved on his first flight journey. It was very difficult for him to choose one as a life partner by rejecting the other. For him, both were like gems.

Divya after completing Post Graduation in Journalism got a job in a private television channel. Her first assignment was to interview the Chief Minister of Goa. It was Duvya's most exciting experience and turning point in her life.  It was a jolly trip to Goa by flight. Divy’s arrival was unexpected. They boarded the aeroplane at 12 a.m. on Sunday. The security staff reviewed the plane safety precautions. For a couple of minutes, all the passengers were preoccupied with reading the safety brochure.

Rishabh received headphones for listening to music. Airhostess announced her actions showing the television screen to know how to tighten the seat belt and other safety measures in the event of an accident.

Soon the plane took off at higher speed. The buzzing sound fascinated him. The things like buildings, roads, mountains and sea below looked so tiny and wonderful. The plane flew very fast rushing through the air without a bump or a jolt.

Just after a few minutes suddenly the plane began to swing from side to side and the pilot was experiencing little trouble in controlling it. But the pilot managed to overcome the danger.

Rishabh felt happy like a bird swigging in the air. Divya was feeling uneasy and in disturbed mood. Her mood was disturbed due to a call received from her friend.

She came to know everything from her friend Vinuta about Kiran and Rishabh's purpose of visiting Goa. Her wishes had gone to winds in a fraction of seconds. Kiran also thinks if Rishabh changed his mind and like Divya, what would be her fate?

Kiran, Divya and Rishabh were classmates in the Mumbai degree College. After graduation, Divya joined a journalism course. Rishabh and Kiran did Master of Business Administration.

Like Divya, Kiran was beautiful, versatile, idealistic and intuitive. She was very active in helping the poor. She had developed sympathy and tolerance towards others. Rishabh had a very good tendency to finish whatever he started irrespective of the nature of work. Kiran never compromises with the injustice done to herself or anybody and fights till she gets justice. Divya was also a kind hearted woman with a perfection in communication and presentation.

Kiran belongs to the builder and pawn broker’s family. Rishabh was a wholesale steel merchant. Divya was a daughter of a school teacher. She was  away for two years for further studies. Rishabh and Kiran meet at weekends.

The plane was moving very fast to reach its destination. They were watching the natural scenes on the television. It was a pleasure for them to watch nature's beautiful scenery.

Kiran had a nap for three minutes and woke up to go to the restroom. When she returned, she was too lazy to push her way into the middle seat. She sat on the first seat. And with Rishabh readily offering to shift seats, the seating arrangement changed and he came in the middle.

With 15 minutes still remaining for the flight to land, a sleep starved Kiran took another power nap, this time she was holding Rishabh's left hand more firmly. Rishabh's other hand in his sleepy mood touched Divya's wrist. Her heart was beating fast. She pulled his hand away with all the force and had a thrilling experience. But a defiant Rishabh this time again held her wrist firmly and more reassuringly.

The flight landed at Dabolim airport late by one hour. The time was 2 am. Kiran didn't know what had happened sometime back between Divya and Rishabh. It took half an hour to come out. Divya went to the Chief minister's office by taxi. She said bye to Rishabh and Kiran.

At the same time Milan, an elder sister of Kiran arrived. Their father Ramanath already informed Milan to take care of Kiran. Rishabh and Kiran were surprised to see Milan.

"Kiran, why did you come here without informing dad and mom? Your travel along with Rishabh is objected to by them and they are very much worried," said Milan

"Milan, I love Rishabh. I wanted to tell them," said Kiran.

Rishabh tried to support Kiran. But he was snubbed by Milan.

Milan took her sister home. While parting Rishabh said,

“Kiran, I am not a perfect person. I do commit a lot of mistakes unknowingly. But still you love me after knowing how really I am.  You are my sweet heart.  I need you.”

“Yeah, I am here. I am not leaving you.   I don’t care what others say about you. I can’t take Divya’s words about you. She never understands the love I have for you."

“Kiran, darling, you are my life, my heart, my world revolves around you. How can I live without my beloved? It’s impossible.”

She said bye and her eyes were wet.

Rishabh felt very much lonely. His wishes were shattered. With a heavy heart he left for Mumbai by the evening flight.

As the days passed, Rishabh was busy in his business activities. One day in the evening, he was watching a television serial, and suddenly there was a knock at the door. When he opened the door, he was surprised to see Divya asking permission to come inside. Rishabh welcomed her. Kiran also followed Divya in just a minute with a happy message that let Divya tie the knot with Rishabh.

Why did Kiran sacrifice Rishabh for Divya?

The answer given by Kiran was most laudable. As she had decided to remain unmarried and serve the poor and disabled persons by forming a no profit charitable institution. In the true sense, among the two, Kiran was the best as she sacrificed lover to her friend Divya.
