I Wish I Was A Girl!

I Wish I Was A Girl!

I wish I was a girl,

I might have been prey to infant killing.

And any way survived, then...

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to face the trolls in the school and the playground.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have known the pain behind going to an "Only girls" school.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to face the pressure of not being allowed to talk to strangers.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to learn cooking at a young age.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to hear the taunts of everyone for being a girl.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have been excited about facing a co-ed college for the very first time.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have been the Princess for my Dad.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had my parents decide everything for me.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have known the menstruation cycle at par.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to feel pain in even breathe ins and breathe outs during those days.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to marry a person of my parents' choice.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to know my LOC, the so-called Maryada.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have gotten love from two sets of parents.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have had to do all the house chores as a duty and not to do work.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have to be quarantined for years just to serve the family.

I wish I was a girl,

I would have been blessed to be able to give birth to a baby and experience motherhood.

And if it was a girl, she would have been the Goddess of my life.

I know the times have changed, the generation has changed, but still, every girl on Earth is still going through all this every single second.

Being born as a girl is lucky on one hand, and at the same time, a challenge.

Appreciation and gratitude to all the girls and ladies in the world in the form of sisters, mothers, grannies, lovers, spouse, daughter and most importantly a friend. Love you all.
