The Hit
The Hit
I am not an opener,
I won't hit six on the first ball.
Running between wickets is enough,
As the others are tough.
I am standing beside the stumps,
I am beginning to get goosebumps.
I worried about,
Will, I hit it,
Or the wicket.
With the three-fingered grip,
I was ready to hit the ball,
I hit it with all my power as I did in baseball.
The ball made a six,
And I stayed fix.
As I could not believe,
What I had achieved.
I never played cricket in a stadium,
I remember on a beach where I played it,
With those little pals of mine.
Under the tropical sunshine.
But today I was a champion,
In the eyes of the galleon .
