Nuptial

Queer was time,

When mantras made us circle the fire.

Queer was time, when I smeared sanguine vermilion on her forehead 

And queer was time,

When I placed the sacred thread in her neck.

When two palms met, 

Brahman declared the accomplishment of marriage.

We took solemn promise to remain staunch to each other for seven eras.

The nuptial made us unite 

To unanimously stay together 

Under one roof,

Sharing love and emotions to the truest degree.
