The King

Let me narrate a beautiful story,

Of a king, his kingdom and its glory.

He was a man of words and deed,

Who helped everyone succeed.

He never did any partiality,

And considered it against royalty.

The king would win his every fight,

And sleep peacefully at the night.

Though he was the owner of the throne,

He didn't have anyone to call his own.

An empire, fort and a huge palace,

Never actually gave him any solace. 

He tried his best to let go and be happy,

But inwardly he craved to have a family.

One fine day he went to war,

To a region which was quite far.

Suddenly he heard someone whoop,

And he quietly separated from his troops.

He followed the sound for a distance,

Till he reached the river beside a small clearance.

The water was truly sparkling clean,

And the grass beside was a lovely green.

His eyes fell on a cute little girl,

Who was laughing merrily and playing with her curls.

She was splashing water all around,

And playing with the rabbits on the ground.

It was such a beautiful sight,

That his heart was filled with delight.

The girl was an orphan, as lonely as him,

Hearing this his eyes filled upto the brim.

He decided to adopt her and took her along,

All the way humming to a melodious song.

The kingdom was filled with happiness,

While the king's joy was boundless.

The king who was lonely even in a crowd,

Had finally found a reason to laugh out loud.

No matter how strong and mighty,

Nothing's important than a loved one's company.
