Letter To A Friend

My dear friend, how are you?

I hope you are fine today.

But even if you're not,

You know I'm here with you.

To tell you that you got it,

Or just to remind you to smile,

To scold you if I need to

And prepare you for another mile.

But please don't shy away from me,

Not even when the shame

Weighs heavy on your lids,

Face me.

For when you're guilty, it kills me.

You need not hide from me,

Not me, never ever

My friend.

And though sometimes

I might not be your favorite sight,

And you steal away your eyes,

And sometimes you wish that we don't meet

For the world is heavy on you

And another revelation is

Something you don't need,

But please tell me, my friend.

Tell me what bothers you.

For I am your one and only,

Yours truly,
