If You Were Here Today!

If You Were Here Today!

In memory of my beloved sister

If you were here today.

You would not have to step out to see my scores on the Internet

But I would still be scared to see them on my own.

If you were here today

I would still be your little brother

And I would not have to pretend to be grown up.

If you were here today

How would you dress your self?

Would your eyes be finally settled on a shade of green or maroon?

If you were here today

You would get to see us living in a better place

And my room is too big for me to be all alone

If you were here today

You would still win the carrom game.

Perhaps this time..

I wouldn’t be sad for my loss.

If you were here today

There would be another fight for a TV channel

Perhaps this time

I would sit with you and have a watch.

If you were here today

Would you still take tuitions?

But this time ..

You would only do it

because you like to.

If you were here today

We would be awake late nights

But Not near a noisy road anymore..

Perhaps this time..

Even running water from the tap..

would sound too loud in silences of the night

If you were here today

I would tell you about my prayers in the mosque..

And you would still make me stay awake

To pray the remaining ones at home.

Now I am sitting alone on the prayer mat

Staring at the splotches of tears left

Until I could pull myself away..

And back to bed.

If you were here today

It would just be another 12th of May.

Who would you be

If you were here today?

Only if you were here, why are not you?
