Stubborn Soul
Stubborn Soul
Every day he woke up
With a smile on his face,
An oath thumping in his heart
And a song in his soul.
A drive and ambition
So potent and infectious
Others felt it in warm waves
And pitied him.
No one wanted to see the shadow
On his face
When he failed.
Every night he went to bed,
Frustration his soulmate
And agony his friend.
Nothing worthwhile to his high ambitions,
Just a stubborn thud in his chest
To wake up,
Keep shooting for his target
And even if he misses poorly.
Success, no matter how long,
Will make him wake up
And smile again.
